Something's seriously wrong with my map. You see, I've been working on a new one (Kothlis, if you must know), and since it's based off of the level from Rogue Leader, I needed the crashed Star Destroyer in my map. But, turns out the space maps' SD is much bigger than I expected... almost a little too big. To be able to fit it and make it look good, I had to change the terrain size. Now, I know people have had problems with this before, but I had to do it to fit the Star Destroyer. I increased it to about... I don't know, 600 x 600? Something around there. Star Destroyer fits about right now, with enough room left over for me to fit in the islands and such. Now, I went ahead, started a bit on the main island where the Rebel transport is landed. After finishing a little bit of it, I decided to munge it and take it in-game. So, I did so, and when I started it up, all seemed well... until I went to spawn.
Now, you see, this is the catch. I didn't really seem to experience any lag, which is good, considering the map is about 6 times larger than what I normally would want it (default size... about 128 x 128... but the SD is like, way bigger than that even). I was surprised the gameplay was nice and smooth... but... well... you see, my problem isn't with the lag. The map is completely screwed. My terrain isn't showing up how it is in the editor. I had hills and such nearby, but the entire terrain is completely flat. Also, all the objects I placed up on where the terrain should be, are now all floating about 20 - 50 feet off the ground. None of my vehicles are spawning either. Now, probably the most noticable (and blinding) feature, is that the sky is completely wiped clean white. Nothing on it. I double-checked my sky file. Nothing wrong there.
Now, call me crazy, but I say this is happening because I changed the terrain size. I've heard it can do some freaky things to a map. But this is just beyond freaky. I've never seen such a mess in a single map. Anyone know what's wrong? I know it's gotta be the terrain, since I've never really had to change it before (and therefore never had any problems like this). Is there any way to fix this? I'm thinking I have to change something in the terrain file or world file or something to make it call for the right terrain size, instead of the default 128, but I'm not sure where to start...
Anyone know what I gotta do? If not, I'm going to have to abandon this project until another time. I've got other ideas I'm itching to do (also beginning to learn how to model ), but if there's a way to fix this map, I'd like to finish it up and get it out there as soon as I can...
Ahh!

RE: Ahh!
Terrain must be 64x64, 128x128, 256x256, 512x512, 1024x1024 or 2048x2048.
And don't worry about lag as far as the size of the terrain. That's what sky settings are for. They only allow for so much of the area to be seen at one time.

Oh... well, I suppose that solves that problem. It'll be a bit of a pain to remake all those hills and stuff though... -.-
Ah well. As long as it'll work right.

Also isnt there a way to keep your terrain but downsize the actual ship. There was a thread about trees a while ago where a guy changed the tree to be absolutely massive. The reverse whould work for the ship really. maybe, maybe not but its something to investigate.

RE: Ahh!
Thank you Emraz, exactly what I was going to say.
Even if your terrain does start working like you need, you still might want to shrink it a bit...I don't know.
Also, as long as you don't need to go -in- the ISD, it could be off the map's textured area.
BTW this sounds really great, even better than, say, Alderann's bloodfest! :P:P

Looking at the Star Destroyer in Rogue Leader, the one from BFII is pretty much exactly the size I need. I've studied the level over and over, sometimes just completely forgetting about the mission and just flying ahead and looking around the area. Looking at the ground troops around the Star Destroyer in the level (yes, there are little stormies running around and stuff), I'd say the scale of the ship in BFII in relation to the units is just about right. Shrinking it... I don't want to do that... changing the terrain is the easiest thing to do.
Also, I don't want to move the SD off the map either, since in the game, the main fighting takes place right at the front of the SD. I'm not sure about players being able to enter it, even though in the game the main objective was to help the strike team get into the SD... I just don't really feel like lining up the interior and everything, plus there's the dilema of making a hole in the hull somehow... really the only way I can do that is to use the hangar hole, and with how the map is set up, the hangar holes are out in the water...
I'm not sure how the water's going to work though. Even if I can get it to work, the amount of water I actually need would probably lock up the framerates pretty bad... >.>
