Editing Files/Program Association

Post by forresal »

Okay, I have been trying to add water to my map to make a coastline. I had followed the documention and even used some great BF1 tutorials. But after loading the map in game...it crashed.

According to the tutorial I was to edit my world's .REQ file among others. When I click on the file, I am prompted to select an application to open it...so I chose my text editor. No problem. But I noticed that now all .REQ files (and those I edited) are associated with my text editor.

Question: does this association have any effect on stability of the map when I try to run it in-game?

Sorry if this question is stupid, I am not really that proficient with computers. I like the idea of creating my own maps for this game but I am quickly learning that modding is way over my head!!

Thanks for the advice!!

yep it'll change all .req's to be opened in notepad (or whatever) unless you unclick the box that says to use it for all reqs. Opening it with notepad or a similar text editor doesn't have any impact on stability etc... you'll also need to use it for editing luas, odfs and the like. Again, it wont cause any probs and its what most of us do. Good luck with the map. :)
