How would you record a trailer for your mod, like the way spiderpig and wulfman recorded their mod trailers for youtube?

You will need a screen capture device (I use Fraps, Spiderpig uses Xfire I think)
You will need a video editing software (I use windows movie maker)
You will need to record video of your map or mod, then edit it in your video editer, and publish it to youtube.

Personally I like to use either Xfire or CamStudio. I like both and imo they both work just as well as each other.
For making a trailer, try and get some gameplay of the better parts to the mod, for instance, new weapons, new player models, just really anything new. This will make your mod look different and new, and possibly inrease the number of people downloading your mod. Also, add in some shots of any new effects and stuff like that. And one last thing, don't take all the gameplay vids and screen shots on the same map. Obviously most people would naturally do this, but I'm just saying in case you didnt know.
