Well I'm trying to run a game, Flight Simulator X, smoothly. The game runs okay, but it still blacks out often and stuff. My graphics card is an Nvidia 8600 GTS and I believe it requires a 400 watt power supply and I have a 300 (or 350, not sure) watt power supply. It's optional that I connect that card to the power supply. For now, I haven't connected it to the power supply. I wanted to know what would happen if I were? What if I were to buy the 400 watt power supply, will there be much difference in performance? It's kind of an old question and I also forgot the details since I haven't used my other computer too often. Sorry for that. Thanks.
By the way, its on a Windows Vista 32-bit.

Get around 100-120$ and buy a 650w or 750w Power Supply to future proof your self for further upgrades. Never use a PSU that is below spec for a part, it leads to bad things in the long run. Never go cheap on a PSU as a bad one can wipe out the GPU or CPU.
With PSUs you get what you pay for, anything 80$ up from a good company is a safe bet.

Compusa online has power supplies and sometimes you can find 600 watt brands he talkeds about for around 30 dollars.
