Well, I'm sick of my ZE not working and there not being any concrete fix for it. That's the main reason, though there are a few other programs that are acting up, too. Normally I just ran ZE on my Vista-using laptop, which it functioned fine on. However, the laptop itself isn't very good and now ZE starts freezing up if I place too many objects in the world or whatever. This prevents me from finishing any map at all.
So I want to ask, first and foremost, is it even legal to add the laptop's Vista system to my computer, while keeping its current Win7? That is, is it legal to copy over files from the laptop and then be able to choose between Win7 and Vista on startup? I certainly don't want to incur and warnings for trying to do something illegal.
If, and only if, the answer to the above is yes, how would I go about doing it? I have a fair deal of space on this machine, and if it doesn't work I could always reverse the process, right?

Re: Transfer operating systems?
I can't see it being illegal as long as you've purchased both operating systems. I have Vista, 7, and Linux all running on my laptop and it works okay.
What you need is a cloning app. Try one of these free ones if you don't want to purchase one.

Another thing you could do is go buy a new OS and install it on your computer. Afterwords you should be able to select one on start-up.
Also ZE freezes up a lot on my Vista. I just save regularly and it isn't a problem.

nonono. if you transfer one computer's OS to anther one, thats waaaaaay illegal (according to Microsoft somewhere in a legal document). In order to have win7 / Vista on one computer you have to buy a new copy of it. If you transfer it over you will loose the genuine Microsoft copy of Vista, meaning thats its illegal, and its not a genuine install. Like i said, if you want Windows 7 and Vista on one computer, you have to buy a new copy of Vista, which, Microsoft doesnt even sell it anymore.fasty wrote:I can't see it being illegal as long as you've purchased both operating systems. 0.o
You're transferring an OS from one computer to another? Yeah I would stick to my second suggestion in that case.
I must have misread or misinterpreted his post.

Ah. Well, that's good to know; I'll just have to find some other way to bully ZE into working. Ty for the help; staff can lock this now.501st_commander wrote:nonono. if you transfer one computer's OS to anther one, thats waaaaaay illegal (according to Microsoft somewhere in a legal document).
