Scrap the old idea. Me and MasterSkywalker will be doing a Star Wars-y disco!

Re: Dynamic Map Idea (experienced modelers, please take a lot)
I have an idea that is VERY basic. Lot'sa boxes put together, and with stairs and such to get around, with some not-so realistic touches.

Re: Dynamic Map Idea (experienced modelers, please take a lot)
Yeah, I suppose, shouldn't be too many though, trying to keep it in the city so it looks like we have a lotXavious wrote:So are there going to be areas outside the city blocks that will eventually be available?

Requests:
Caleb1117 - B1
Master Saitek - F4 (D2 if makes scripting system)
Fluffy_the_ic - J2
Grev - G3
tsurugi13 - K4
Fingerfood - M2
Maveritchell- B2
I stuck these people in a slot:
[RDH]Zerted - B4
YJJ - A4
Taivyx - D1
Teancum - B3
Syth - ?? (do you wish to make a building?)
Mercurynoodles - Anything in A (only if I finish mshex, which I worked all day on)
MshEx status:
Worked all day starting at 7:00 am.
It exports materials, plus texture names. It also iterates through modl chunks, not quite to the point where it exports them all yet. It'll take some more rambling in the new morn hay, but I'll get there (play track 2 of this to understand allusion).

I'll go ahead and grab B2, just to finish up the "B" block.

Wow, I'm on a good block, right next to Zerted, Maveritchell, and Teancum.
Edit: heres what's left, Red = Occupied.

Edit: updated to include Taivyx's plot, and the bar

Well here's the world http://files.filefront.com/data+DMIzip/ ... einfo.html
- Make a new world with the modtools (run from start menu), called DMI, with it's only mode being Hero Assault.
- Paste in the World and Common folder from the file you downloaded.
- In ZE, go to the Change: next to layers and it'll open the layer dialog box.
- Hit the "new" button.
- Right click on the new layer and rename it to your name.
- Always work in this layer, not the BASE layer, make sure you change it everytime you start up.
- a msh folder including any new mesh you added
- an odf folder including any new odf you added
- world1 including your .lyr file

How do we know where to place our house? Does the layer have our region?

What's the difference between the lots with and without numbers?

No difference, same number pattern applies to them all.SlyCoopersButt wrote:What's the difference between the lots with and without numbers?
You could still take a spot, I guess, and we could give you a prefab, till you make one of your own.Syth wrote:I might make one but the 14th im going to get wisdom teeth out and after that im doing vacationy stuff so i dont know if id get one done

Re: Dynamic Map Idea (experienced modelers, please take a lot)
Edit: Just stick me anywhere you want that's the most convienient if you need any empty slot filled that goes unclaimed. as I'm confused by who's supposed to get what depending on what they are going to do. I'll just take a default building. I know nothing about anything except odf's.

Re: Dynamic Map Idea (experienced modelers, please take a lot)
The difference is that I was too lazy to copy the numbers. I guess I have a programmer's sense of avoid redundancy.
Just use the map:
Given that my building is occupying C1 and C2, and that both the map and the city are aligned to north, it shouldn't be too hard to find you square. The squares A through O are all outlined by streets. For the individual plots (1-4), just divide that square into fourths. Shouldn't be hard to do at all.
EDIT: Also, you need to make your own layer. Follow the instructions on the post with the download link and you should be fine.
It's pretty easy to tell. I made regions for A-D in the world, but then I cringed at doing a ton more for the outer part.Grev wrote:How do we know where to place our house? Does the layer have our region?

Okay, well, moved to D3!
Anyway, does anyone have a simple rectangula sign to post pictures on?

Re: Dynamic Map Idea (experienced modelers, please take a lot)
I'm going to model some for my building. If you're patient, when I'm done, I'll release them. I plan on releasing a lot of my assets as I'm making my stuff, so people can benefit from them/have them as a reference tool. I know it's always hard to figure out how big to make a door way, or how tall a ceiling should be. Hopefully my examples will expedite anyone's attempts if they so wish.
But it's going to take me a while to get to doing all that. I need mshex. It's coming nicely, but I have a golf tournament in the morning, so I won't have the entire day to devote to it. I guess writing the whole darn thing once-over in a day is too much to ask of myself xD.
Yep my agenda:

Ah, but see, I moved! If you could change that to D3, that would make it almost perfect.
