And also the problem that most people would spend 90% of their time on the ground, while I would spend 90% of mine in a fighter, with nothing interesting in space, I'll be strafing the players on the ground... ALL THE TIME. It'll be like Arty in WoT.

Another thing they could do is let you choose, when you are picking maps, to turn on/off space or ground battles. So you could have the ground map, the space map, or both at the same time. I personally hope they will have them, Redline's ground-space maps are some of my favorite Battlefront maps of all time.

Re: SWBF3 Announced
Well I mean, obviously this is a guess given no official announcement has been made, I'm just saying it makes sense that they'd think Battlefront should've been an FPS considering they mainly do FPS games. Obviously that's not based on an official statement, I'm just saying that it makes sense.Marth8880 wrote:We have to remember not to use our own speculation as evidence.Fierfek wrote:They said that they want SWBF3 to be "what the old ones should've been" - given they're primarily FPS (battlefield), I'm guessing SWBF3 will be FPS given they'd think that the old ones should've been FPS.

Re: SWBF3 Announced
I look at it this way: supposedly DICE sought out EA/Disney to make the game, so clearly they're fans of the old ones. That's enough for me to feel like they'll try to stay true to the fans while not moving away from their own vision. Whatever that means in the end I'll be happy with the result.

I'm not complaining. I'll be happy with whatever we get.
Just the fact that they're making it again makes me happy.

Re: SWBF3 Announced
What makes Battlefront 2 so special (for me) is the gameplay and not that there were Star Wars units. It's different from all those CoD/Crysis/Battlefield shooter-like games and that's why I love it - even though it has quite a few bugs and limitations.
What I am hoping for is that they keep the feeling of a SWBF2 and it doesn't become like this uniform pulp...

Re: SWBF3 Announced
Or they recognize a best-selling Star Wars game series when they see one. If DICE hadn't gone to EA, probably EA would have brought it to DICE anyway, no?Teancum wrote:supposedly DICE sought out EA/Disney to make the game, so clearly they're fans of the old ones.
From the sound of it they're reinventing the franchise, which means while it won't be Battlefield with Star Wars skins, it won't be old school Battlefront, either. Which, I hasten to add, is not necessarily a bad thing.Locutus wrote:What I am hoping for is that they keep the feeling of a SWBF2 and it doesn't become like this uniform pulp...

If they do it well enough, then SWBF3 could be one of the biggest games of all time. They'd need to do it well though. Too many games feel the same nowadays.Fiodis wrote:reinventing the franchise

Didn't they say they were dissecting the previous games? Should be easier if EA still have access to all their Pandemic assets.

I feel like the only person who secretly hopes that this turns out to be a reboot of the original Battlefront.

Re: SWBF3 Announced
DICE really wanted to make it(they asked if they could make it, begged practically), so I'm going to assume that they're fans of the original Battlefront games. I doubt it's going to be massively different.

Re: SWBF3 Announced
Of course it's going to be a reboot: DICE have said that much themselves. That's why there's no number attached to it. I believe they said that as it was originally based on Battlefield anyway, the game was 'coming home'.RogueKnight wrote:I feel like the only person who secretly hopes that this turns out to be a reboot of the original Battlefront.

@Marth
Man, that's comforting sorta. They need to have instant action to, though they might favor online. I really hope they are the Battlefront fans they claim to be, could be very interesting what new things they do.

It's wise for them to be following in the footsteps of the old Battlefronts. It'll make everyone happier.

Re: SWBF3 Announced
I'd like to point out that they have a "3rd-person component". That's not to say the whole game can be played in 3rd-person. We need to wait to see for that.
All this might mean is vehicles, or Jedi are 3rd-person. Or that it's the classic way of being able to switch from 1st to 3rd at will. We just don't know yet.

If third is in, I hope it's over the head and lets you see your feet, like 1 and 2, not over the shoulder, except in zoom in, that was good.
Those cameras are so disorienting otherwise...

Re: SWBF3 Announced
Yeah, Gears of War third-person is a plague. It gets used a lot and consequently there must be tons of people who like it (or at least tolerate it), but it doesn't feel good the way the direct-rear camera in SWBF does.kinetosimpetus wrote:If third is in, I hope it's over the head and lets you see your feet, like 1 and 2, not over the shoulder, except in zoom in, that was good.

Re: SWBF3 Announced
Ugh. I have always hated the direct-rear camera in SWBF(2), I feel like I can't see a single thing in front of me.
