help, first time to making a map

Post by jondavis »

Wondering what it takes to make maps using the zeroeditor that I downloaded.

I have figured out how to place command points and raise/lower the surface area.

But how do you make walls?
Sorry this will be the first I've tried in making any kind of map.

Are walls a object you have to import?

If so how do you make objects?
With these tools or different ones?
And if different ones, is there any you recommend?
And is there some easy walls to steal from the maps they sent with it?

Thanks for any help

To get objects in the game (like walls), you can either use pre-made ones from an existing map, or model them yourself.

All the objects from the current maps came with the modtools in the assets folder. Search the forums here to find out more.

You may model in any program you wish, but the only way to get them into zeroeditor exported to msh format is through softimageXSI using the addon that came with the modtools.
And, through testing many routes, the only way I've found that texturing works correctly is if you texture in XSI.
Again, searching the forums will get more information and answers.

Try again, new to the forum to and the quick reply did not show up.

Searching the forums now
Someone metioned lego walls.
Know where to get that at?
I'll be looking around, hopefully its on this site.

definately use the "search" tool on this site....with nthat you will find answers to most of your questions. Also in the files for the tools you downloaded there is a folder called "documentation" Those files will help you get started on your way to modding.

Good luck!

ok found some leggo walls in the first battlefront file section.
I'll see how that works.
Also found what looks like a cool level.
Chocolate Factory or something.

Wondering does adding hundreds of these lego walls mean more things to load?

Or is it the more different kinds of objects?

Or both?

I'm making a room with the wall lego blocks.
I grouped the room so I could paste it around the level.
One room loads in fine but when I try a few of them then the game locks up on the loading screnn.
Is this because there are 1000's of objects using walls that small?

possibly but i really don't know. having that many objects could overload ur system but i don't think so. if u reduce the number of blocks does it stop locking?

if so then u r probably overloading ur system with to many objects at once. Creating protals/sections. Sorry i don't know much about them so ur gonna have to search for them too. good luck at being a modder!!!
