Check this out. if u go to the start menu then go to ur SWB2 mod section. Then click on Readme. It has this on like the second line.

This is a beta release of the Battlefront II mod tools. This release of the tools should give you everything you need to make mods for Star Wars Battlefront II, including the original assets that were used to make the game (minus sounds, and movies, which we could not release due to file size and licensing issues).

Maybe they intentionally left out the copying of the sounds b/c of licensing.
maybe but they are still there it just doesn't copy. So maybe they were able to work around the licensing issues by making all of us find out how to add sounds.

hay thats rude! it was just a thought. No real purpose since it doesn't really matter at all.

THey sounds are there. You just need to alter some of the .req file and create the list you want then load with a dc: in your .lua.

There is a whole thread on it here at gametoast.

I found the movies too.

well thats what i was saying. they have them in but they made everyone find them. possibly b/c if licensing issues. They didn't exactly directly give them to us. we had to find them. sort of.

First off, Pandemic has and still does fully support us. It's Lucasarts that has problems. Pandemic is just the red haired stepson. But, in reality, they are liscened and copyrighted sounds, so I don't blame Lucasarts or Pandemic.

Source sounds aren't distributed anywhere with the mod tools. It wasn't just licensing, it was the fact that the sounds are 4GB (5GB? 6GB?) uncompressed, and so were movies. We tried to make the modtools download as small as possible, and you can see how big it was anyway.
Unless the modtools you downloaded were somewhere more than 4GB in size, you haven't got sounds...but you can look all you like. :^)
Additionally - unlike other things where you need the original model to skin a new character, or you need a level's assets to make a variation - you can still add new sounds to your mods, however, it's difficult and probably not documented anywhere except by psych0fred. And you can call upon any sounds that shipped with BF2 (by loading the right sound LVL files). So there's no need to distribute the source for sound anyway...
