Don't get me wrong, I love source games and I love that Source 2 will be free, but goodness god there are so many issues with the engine and working with it. I don't see loads of people using Source 2 if it's just as bad. This might result in fewer but higher quality games perhaps but it will stop us from seeing a lot of small projects with a lot of potential as well.

Source was really good, but you're right, it is getting dated now a days, even with games like CS:GO.

CS:GO is amazing, especially given that it's built on Source. I'm not one of those "Valve is infallible" people, but I do think that they are very good at reading the lay of the land, and they'll do just fine with Source 2.
