Re: The HELLO / GOODBYE topic
This is an extremely hard post for me to write. In fact, I didn't even know how to start it but this will have to do.
I've been with Gametoast for a long, long time. My account may have been started in 2008, but that was because I finally built up the courage to get involved with this wonderful community after I had been lurking for at least a year before that. Hyrule Field was the first map that caught my attention and got me interested in mods for Battlefront II, but I didn't have a powerful enough computer to run the game at the time. But Christmas in Jinglin' town was probably the first map I followed from beginning to end; I can remember browsing that thread religiously through the discussion and updates. Shortly after it was released my bigger brother got an extremely good computer for the time, and I was finally able to play and mod Battlefront II!
After that, I actually didn't accomplish much when it came to modding. I learned all of the tricks, and knew exactly how to make maps, models, textures, scripts, odf's, basically anything you could name for this game. But I could never get the motivation to culminate it into anything meaningful or finish a map. In fact, I only ever finished one map of my own: Training Installation. Even then, I wasn't very happy with the outcome.
I actually found more fun in working around the limitations of Zero Engine and finding out how to do a lot of cool stuff that you never see in other people's projects. These discoveries and tinkerings were more tailored to the visual/graphics side of things. Remember RepSharpshooters huge discussion on lighting and lightmaps for this game, and he even implemented a really simple workaround into one of his maps? Yeah, I took that and ran with it and came up with this about 3 months ago:
That was taken in Zero Editor. But, I could never finish a map that I was happy with that implemented this feature. Such is life.
I'm actually happy I volunteered to do some player models for Marth and WULF. I actually managed to get some of those finished atleast. But as they both probably concluded, I have a horrible work ethic and I have trouble meeting deadlines. I'm glad I could help you guys, but I'm sorry that I'm leaving the Mass Effect Mod's team in this manner. Thanks for the opportunity!
If you have any questions about anything, feel free to shoot them my way. I'm still gonna be around every once in a while. I'm just not going to post anymore. I'm not going to mod this game anymore. I won't be active in this community that's been such a huge part of my life for the past 7 years of my life anymore
If you want to find me in other places, I'll be hanging around other communities and scenes with these names:
Twitch.Tv in all of the speedrunning streams: "InfiniteBombJump" (Also, my name on Speed Runs Live, I run basically only Metroid Games)
Neogaf.com: "Im_So_Pringles"
Xbox Live: "Im_So_Pringlezz" (If you add me, give me your Gametoast username in the message)
YouTube: "Aaronmac404" Soon I'm going to make another channel named "Aaronmac64" Where I'm going to post videos of Videogame rock remixes that I make
Also, my name is Aaron McDevitt. Chances that I accept social media website friend requests if you manage to find me may be slim, but if you really want to I can send you links to my pages. I'm giving you my real name because I trust you all and just in case I manage to pop up in any musical efforts/songs/albums that you may listen to in the coming years.
Alright, it's time. Goodbye guys. Thanks Mav, Teancum, Guru, AQT, and everybody else that has kept this site extremely well run over the years. Thanks to everybody that has helped me before, and thank you to all of the users here at GT. You are all an extremely classy bunch. I'm gonna miss you guys. Thanks for all of the memories and fun over the years.
Who knows, if Star Wars Battlefront III is ever made, I may return.
Alright, peace out everybody.

Wow. It's going to be a shame to see you go. I really don't have much else to say. Now, I really hope Battlefront III comes out just so we can have you back, because you're a really talented mapper and modeler. When I first got back into SWBFII (about two years ago) your map was the first mod map I played. No joke. I'm pretty sure that I speak for most of the community when I say we'll miss you.

Re: The HELLO / GOODBYE topic
As the years went by, we drifted apart
When I heard that he was gone
I felt a shadow cross my heart
Sorry, I'm a Rush fan, slips out sometimes.
I'm really sorry to see you go, and not just for selfish reasons either. You were a bright and talented individual, and Gametoast will miss you.

Re: The HELLO / GOODBYE topic
Just popping in.
Unfortunately most of my modding and gameplay stopped when I got to college.
Is anyone I knew still around? It's kinda sad to see everyone drift apart.
I'm trying to even think of who I knew well...
Challenger33, Lase, Maveritchell, Teancum, Penguin, trainmaster611, Taivyx, FragMe!, raptor512, MandeRek, Xavious, Caleb1117, Hebes24, Ipodzanyman, Fusion, Raptor522, DannBoeing, The_Emperor, DeathRow, Zerted, Darth_Z13, Dohnutt, AQT, DarthD.U.C.K., Rancor, and more?
Anyway, as for me, I'm finishing up an engineering degree and interning at an electronics company this summer. BF2 modding really sparked my interest in computers and programming.
I remember racing to the computer after school every day, and opening the modtools directory and zedit. Munging and munging to infinity. Hanging out with people on xfire, on bf2 servers ("Jedi Battle Arena" was always the best). Managing my fledgling but cherished =LH= clan. As someone who didn't relate to much of anyone at school, you guys were there. I may sound melodramatic, but some of my fondest memories from high school were working and interacting with you all.
It was probably the time in my life when I was most inspired to do anything. Now I just care about turning in assignments and working at a real job. It's sad to see this part of me fade.
Hope everyone is doing well, wherever they are...

Re: The HELLO / GOODBYE topic
Those in yellow are still around. Zerted only pops in every now and then, Rancor doesn't mod anymore, but I still see him playing TOR on Xfire all the time. Duck has been away, but I think he's coming back. AQT is here daily. Tean is here very often. Mav slightly less so. DeathRow, haven't talked to him in awhile. Oh and Raptor is busy being in the Navy right now.RepSharpshooter wrote:]I'm trying to even think of who I knew well...

Welcome back, it's nice to see you. You don't know me, but I know you. You're more or less one of the legends here on the forums.

I'm leaving Gametoast. Bye.
I'll be back in a few days, just to check in because I'm going to South Carolina for spring break. You might see me around a bit but I'll be back next week.

Re: The HELLO / GOODBYE topic
Anyway its sad to see this comunity die. No one of the veteran is still modding.
Mav, didnt pulled something out since august 2011
Manderek didnt since 2010
And many modders didnt since 2008 these were only a few examples
This comunity will be dead soon since there are no big modding project (except unification, and battlefront 2013) at work
