I'm sure it could be amazing with the other leaked vid's graphics.

Of course then we could go into the argument of graphics over gameplay, but frankly ... yeah let's bring it on! Yeeeaaah!
Nah, whatever. Places to go! (Kitchen for the cake in the fridge)

Re: BATTLEFRONT III RELEASED or: Resident Evil: Battlefront
I think it would have been a good game, but it seems that they went for using points over reinforcements there, and it's obvious what happened to whatever was left of BF3. Although not everything was used in Elite Squadron, I see (Desolation Station appears in the DS version, not in the PSP). Finished, it might have been the best Battlefront game ever. Too bad...
Although from what I can see, the 'space to ground' was quite close to what certain modders have done in BF2 here.

Certainly looked like it. It could have been what they got up at that point in development. What ever engine they use now I hope it's good, probably some variant of Unreal 3. I'd love to see SWBFIII use the frostbite engine. I just love that engine.

I personally think CryENGINE would be worth a shot; it supports transitioning weather and time elements and, well, it is probably the most beautiful engine ever developed.

I would love epic games to make it, they have incredible artists or Crytek.

EPIC is too big for LA to ask them to make it. I was just talking about game engine wise.

New screens went up. Looks like they had 5 classes, versions of the original 4 base classes and a melee class.

Looks like we would have been able to go into the second Death Star too. And that they'd keep BF1/2's 1st/3rd person option.

Re: BATTLEFRONT III RELEASED or: Resident Evil: Battlefront
Tutorial and Level 1 videos are up. Looks like there was more of a story than the other versions had.
Also, melee was included, as well a some sort of Republic hovertank.
I really hope a more completed version gets leaked some day so people can finish it, KotOR 2 style.

Just watched the tutorial footage. Pretty neat stuff, and LOL, silly first person models "colliding" with everything on-screen! And LOL, I LOVE the droid's voices!
Also, I really like this screenshot:

Re: BATTLEFRONT III RELEASED or: Resident Evil: Battlefront
I just wish Lucasarts would have been confident and patient with Free Radical instead of pulling the funding. We all would be playing Battlefront III right now, and it would have rocked.
Such a bummer. Why is Lucasarts so business-dumb these days?
EDIT: Also, a cool tidbit about the picture above:
The circled part is the playable area on the ground. And you could fly there and back with no loading screens. The scale of this game would have been incredible. Let's all hope whoever is making BF III is going to do at least as good!

I have no idea why, but that video of Coruscant really reminded me of something David Lynch would make. Half-rendered city, random screams, people behaving weird, no music but half-finished engine and building noises...

Re: BATTLEFRONT III RELEASED or: Resident Evil: Battlefront
LA has changed leaders quite often the past few years. I'm assuming they just got hit hard by the recession which is shortly after FU came out. It was a good enough of a success to warrant a sequel. Too bad it didn't turn out like Assassin's Creed 1 to 2. Also I think they put alot of resources in TOR along with Bioware and EA. And they had their hands full with Kinect Star Wars.
OF course those are titles we're aware of. Honestly I don't know where they went wrong. That golden period of 2001-2006 was just fantastic. I do know they licensed out Unreal 3 tech for a few projects from EPIC and they got back the guy who directed/created Republic Commandos. Hopefully something at PAX (probably not) or at E3 they can announce.
It'd be cool if the builds got leaked of SWBFIII, but I think that'd be such a mess, both PR and tech wise it might not be worth it. BUT modders have surprised me in many different ways.

I don't want to be 'that guy', but given that the footage has been released (READ: This wasn't a leak) it makes me that much more hopeful for an announcement soon.

Re: BATTLEFRONT III RELEASED or: Resident Evil: Battlefront
I like to think that now that TOR's out and is doing relatively well, LucasArts is back on some firm footing. I expect to see more quality titles in years to come, if not displayed at E3. And now that there's evidence of not one, but two companies that WERE working on SWBF3, but aren't any more, there's that little glint of hope that LA hasn't given up on it, and we will see it sometime.

I'm genuinely curious; How do you know that it wasn't just a leak? Did he say something along those lines?Teancum wrote:I don't want to be 'that guy', but given that the footage has been released (READ: This wasn't a leak) it makes me that much more hopeful for an announcement soon.

Because Borman18 has a great rapport with several developers. If you check out his YouTube channel and other past work for other sites it proves it.

The footage of the Death Star II he uploaded yesterday is really impressive, I just hope they carry that forward to the new engine.

Re: BATTLEFRONT III RELEASED or: Resident Evil: Battlefront
I don't see how someone releasing old pre-alpha footage of the old canceled 2008-2009 SWBF3 somehow indicates that some kind of announcement is coming. I'm not saying there is or isn't, I just can't see a connection.
I certainly wouldn't want them to continue working on whatever Free Radical had done rather than starting fresh. I do not want another Duke Nukem Forever.
