Heroes in Space possible?

Luke's Xwing would have increased helth regeneration (R2-D2) and powerful Photon Torpedos with improved homing (His pulled a wicked 90 degree turn in Ep. 4, where it entered the exaust port, because of the force and all).

But seriously, once the hero is on the enemy ship, it's game over. They'll tear through the internal sytems like butter.

Wow sounds awsome, Assaj's ship will need animation though. I confused about the hanger thing, do you think you can explain it?

This is a great idea. It won't be as big of a deal as ground heroes, but it will still be awesome.

maybe the falcon should start in the regular hanger but only solo could pilot it.

and greivas shouldn't have to leave the ship? i dk its up to you lol

An idea on Asajj Ventress ship, though this would require tweaking her ship's phisical boundaries in terms of agility.

Manipulate it so it can turn on a dime. If yu watch the cartoon, her ship does some crazy turns, including a box turn (180 on the spot). But it has very little shielding (it's a solar ship with sails) and no missiles. Instead it has a pair of very powerful repeaters on each end (she destroys a few gunships in one pass, not THAT strong but better than, say, the X wing's quad lasers).

Now what i think would be cool is Jango/Boba with the slave ships. Maybe you could script an animation with speed, or lace it with a button, similar to Asajj Ventress' wings. When you slow down, your ship flips horizontally, while high speeds willl make you flip vertically. If succesful, make it like this:

vertical: quad lasers, 2 cockpit lblasters and the bottom mounted turbolasers. Secondary homing missiles.

horizontal: only the turbolasers

also consider more than the hero. Like maybe instead of quad fired, the turbolasers are a turret armed by a passenger. And a 3rd seat for fly by wires.

Just thinking out loud for now :). If nobody takes it i'll try my hand at making a Slave ship.

Rends should have a look at it. He's one of few modders that see his projects through. A good few people here ditch mods half finished.

But seriously, modeling thes wouldn't he hard. I picked it up without help because I'm an artist (drawing,. photoshop, etc). But it's not hard once you know what all the needed tools do.

You know, I had this same idea a while back when I was coming up with ideas for a Space Yavin Death Star attack map. I was thinking of the possibility of adding heroes to the map. Maybe a beefed up X-Wing (Luke) for the Rebels, and a TIE Advanced (Vader) for the Imperials. Though, I wasn't planning on having any of them spawn in hangars, since the Rebels would have to spawn all the way on Yavin IV for it to make sense. So I just thought to make all the units just spawn inside their ships, in space. Maybe, we could implement this into this mod also. Instead of having the heroes spawn inside actual hangars, they'll just spawn with their ships in space. But then again... that may prove to be troublesome, since we'll have to figure out how they can get out of their ship later on... eh... just an idea...

Also, another thing I think should be in this mod, is when you shoot down the heroes, instead of them spinning out of control and blowing up like regular ships do, just remove the explosion from the spinning animation. That way, it'll just look like they spin out of control. Kinda like how Vader spun out in Episode IV. After all, I don't think it would make much sense for any of the heroes to blow up and die in the middle of space... that'd be contradicting the movies...

And might I suggest some additional heroes?

Republic:

Plo Koon (if there ever should be a Cato Neimodia space map...)

Ship: Modified Delta-7 (blue and white paintjob)

Info: Plo Koon's Delta-7 would be slightly slower than Obi-Wan or Anakin's Jedi Interceptors, but it's shields would be about twice as strong. Also, the weapondry would be a bit stronger also. With dual laser cannons, which would deal about as much damage as a regular ARC-170 starfighter, and which would overheat much slower. Also, the ship would carry a bunch of cluster rockets, which would fire about five missles at a time, at an interval of about 10-15 seconds, and with each rocket doing about as much damage as an ARC-170's missles.

CIS:

Jango Fett

Ship: Slave I (blue and silver paintjob)

Info: Basically the same as Boba Fett, except not as many weapons. The shields would be weaker also. To make up for the downgrades in weapondry and defense, the ship would be a lot more agile and faster than it's GCW counterpart. Also, the weapons would overheat slower than those on Boba's ship.


Rebels:

Wedge Antilles (whoot)

Ship: Modified X-Wing

Info: Wedge would basically have an X-Wing as his fighter, but it would be stronger, faster, more agile, and have a lot more weapons than the average X-Wing. For weapons, he'd basically have his quad lasers, which do about three times more damage than the regular X-Wing's. Also, he'd have a slew of about 10 homing rockets, which would fire about five at a time, at 10 second intervals. And lastly, he'd have about 6 proton torpedoes, which would do about twice the damage as the regular X-Wing's torpedoes.


Imperials:

wOot this will be cool if sime1 makes it. THe spwing wont bee that hard i thin, the moddeling and skinning will take sometime but it isent inpossebol jst have to make some new hangars on the cap ships.

Ok this1 is just an idea but for the republic the hangar could bee were from obi1 launches with the ship on hes way to utapau...

A good idea would be to add another hangar in the Star Destroyer ships where the way in/out is at the bottom of the ship. Will be kinda hard to make the AI go there, but it's a good spawnpoint for hero vehicles (since there are only players that play the heroes´)

This has been already said in another GameToast thread... (But I do not remember its title anymore...)
A.I. controlled units couldn't get out from capital ships in such conditions, and that's probably why the Siege Star Destroyer map (Made by Raven Softwares, for Jedi Academy) can only be played in Multi-Player mode, without being able to call Bots on it... :wink:

Yes, that's the whole point! No bots in the horo hangar means noone stealing the hero ship....Oh yes, that question:

What about this:
A guy spawns as a hero, at the same time as a soldier from the other team flees from inside the ship after destroying a critical system. The haro ship spawns at the same time as the enemy comes out in the hangar, and he steals it.

Something has to be done about this, since i think that it would be very common online. Especially if you have a separate hangar for hero ships, camping there will get common. One way to solve this is to add many Auto turrets in there, but it might make the server lag, since there has to be a lot of turrets.

an other idea is to make it just in to a nother hanger with no connection too to rest of the hangar and thoes systems and the hero would swpan there but some body else coould fly in there but i think the hreo would rech hes/her ship befor a normal solider

What if someone is already camping there? Just waiting for the vehicle to spawn?

The best solution would be to make the vehicle so that just the hero can enter it. If that's possible. Since some vehicles are coded so that the enemy can't get in to it, i think that this would be possible too. Hey...that's maybe a solution...
