Merc's server sucks. Where's ours?

Mercenary Gaming's server for Star Wars Battlefront 2 really sucks, and I just recently acquired a server rack and tower of my own.

So would it be alright if, when the hardware and such is ready, I were to host a Gametoast dedicated server, exclusively for Star Wars Battlefront 2?

-1x HP ProLiant DL380 rack
-2x Intel Xeon 3.06 GHz single-core processors
-2.0 GB DDR RAM; I have 1.0 GB extra I could put in as well
-2x 136.8 GB 10,000 RPM hard drives
-4x 43.6 GB 10,000 RPM hard drives
-Windows Server 2003 x86

I am planning to host my website on it as well as a dedicated server for SWBF2, Half-Life 2: Deathmatch and Halo Custom Edition (if HCE's DSM would actually work for once in its life).

Ultimately it is your server and your choice. I am not sure what a "Gametoast dedicated server" would mean in terms of how it was different from other servers, but I don't think anyone's going to get in your way.

I meant a server that is labeled "Gametoast Official Server" or something of the like.

No reason I see that you can't use the name, provided it's not a server that supports anything we wouldn't support (i.e. glitching, extreme profanity, etc.). We don't have a real GT server, despite the idea being pitched around time and time again, so you wouldn't be stepping on any toes.

Yeah yeah, we know. We're specifically talking about SWBF2.

EDIT:

For now, and not for long, the server is being ran on my laptop which stays on and connected to the internet. Be aware that you will get your occasional lag every now and then due to it being on a laptop. It will be eventually moved onto my server rack, though.

I would cut down on the number of space modes, or at least spread them out. Users tend to drop out of servers during those, since they are so different and often take a long time. Other than that, it looks fine to me.

There isn't really any need to spread them out since the maps are chosen randomly.

What do you think the "idle" map should be? It's currently set to Death Star. (The "idle" map is a map that runs when there aren't any players for a set amount of time; it's used to attract players.)

i know the topic is a bit old but i just found and read it and have an "important" question

my question is: should it be modded in someway, also what if we had differernt people host the server at different times when others can't?

also i had a dedicated on randommized maps and i had put 3 space levels on it (and about the ammount of other maps that you have) and thats all that seemed to pop up for some reason, i would recommend putting it down to 1 (or 2 if u just love space).
