I get back from vacation, and all these mods are being released.
Great work, Mav, can't wait.

Haha, wow, talk about good timing.Maveritchell wrote:This will be a somewhat unorthodox countdown post, in that whatever I might have planned to show here went up in acrid smoke along with my modding PC's power supply last night. Fortunately for you, I am hypersensitive to having my ducks in a row as far as mod releases go, and I've had the mod uploaded and prepared for release for a couple days now, so there should be no change to the schedule.

One more day!!! Any idea how high the requirements (graphics-wise) are for the new maps?

Re: Rising Son: Countdown to Release (Day 1 up)
If you don't have any problems with stock maps, you shouldn't with these. Most of the maps here are less-graphically-intensive than stock maps or most mod maps.Blade117 wrote:One more day!!! Any idea how high the requirements (graphics-wise) are for the new maps?

Re: Rising Son: Countdown to Release (Day 1 up)
Good to know. Stock maps are fine for me, but a lot of convo pack maps (Kashyyyk Docks, Raxus Prime, ect) and a many of Dark Space and BF: 0 maps crash as well. Thanks for the reply, Mav.

So if its been ready for several days now, why have the wait to release it?

One should not question the ways of the Force...and mod release dates. I don't know, but the waiting just makes the final release that much sweeter.

So speaking as a tester, IG-88's "other" gun is one of the best weapons in the game. Bar none.

I anticipate using even more now, Tean.
Also, Mav, your third rebel ops map didn't run on my system. Might that herald any inability to use these maps. Sprry for asking, but it couldn't hurt to know.

Best in terms of what? If it's in terms of firepower, I know a guy named Boeing who would heartily disagree! If it's in terms of how cool it is, or intuitive, then I'd probably agree with you before even trying it myself.

So true!AgentSmith_#27 wrote:Best in terms of what? If it's in terms of firepower, I know a guy named Boeing who would heartily disagree!
However I think its in terms of all the weapons in the Dark Times II: Rising Son.
Outside of Rising Son however....
Can't wait to use IG-88!
Oh, and about a week ago I saw a "Dark Times II" testing server. I'm guessing this means that it works online well?

I can't answer that, not knowing what specific problem you had. In terms of how taxing these maps are, they are as I mentioned above.Blade117 wrote:Also, Mav, your third rebel ops map didn't run on my system. Might that herald any inability to use these maps. I would assume it is a subjective judgment. It is definitely not the most powerful.Best in terms of what?

Fun. If you're looking for a "best" weapon in terms of firepower, you won't find one in this mod because the sides are incredibly well-balanced.AgentSmith_#27 wrote:Best in terms of what?

Re: Rising Son: Countdown to Release (Day 1 up)
Well, it dishes out a good amount of damage and can easily knock people around, it's sort of similar to Col Serra's mortar gun. The only real downside to IG-88's Plasma Rifle is range, that gun is terrible at long range, and that's why you should swap for the Blaster Rifle when engaging distant enemies.
@Mav's Day 1 update: huh, so that's why I keep getting Bail Organa as the Alliance's Hero, it's kind of annoying actually, I'm tired of playing as him.

Re: Rising Son: Countdown to Release (Day 1 up)
He's no more or less likely than Kota or Starkiller to show up in the pre-GCW, and on the new maps, it's more likely that you'll get the ABY time period than the BBY time period. Statistically speaking, of course. They are random, so it is within the realm of possibility that you can go on a "run" of one particular hero.Nihillo wrote:@Mav's Day 1 update: huh, so that's why I keep getting Bail Organa as the Alliance's Hero, it's kind of annoying actually, I'm tired of playing as him.

Yes, and I like to act like I am waiting patiently while I am silently bouncing off the walls and drinking caffine-free coffee.
EDIT: Oh dear. Did I just kick back the release a few hours?
