Space Anoat
This map is a little off the beaten path in terms of what I've added so far, map-wise.
There were some fun things I wanted to try for space in the last version of the mod, but as I was not adding any maps, it limited (a lot!) what I could do. Even though the old version did add four "unique" space maps, they were all constructed in the script only and they used stock map templates.
Space Anoat is a map designed specifically to bring "wave mode" into space. Like all the other singleplayer-only wave modes, Space Anoat wave is six waves of increasing difficulty with a seventh unlockable wave.
In this wave mode, you pilot the Millennium Falcon against Imperial forces comprised largely of TIEs, which increase in both quantity and variety. Instead of having timed waves, though, like the other wave modes, Space Anoat has specific objectives you must accomplish to start the next wave.
The map is not easy (not that any of the wave modes should be). Since it's a pretty big piloting challenge (although your odds of losing should be significantly less than 3720:1) - you have to navigate through asteroids and lots of enemy craft - every kill you make is rewarded with a vehicle health bonus, proportionate to the difficulty of the craft killed (e.g. killing a TIE Fighter nets you a small health bonus; killing a TIE Advanced nets you a significantly larger one).
Instead of showing you pictures of the wave mode, it's been a while since I've made a video for this, so here's a small video teaser for this map.
Happy 30th, Empire.

Looks like a lot of fun - it kind of reminds me of the Endurance mission in Rogue Leader for the Gamecube.

I havent watched the vid yet, but this sounds like epic win!
Edit: Watched it. Now I must follow this mod closer. This map looks fun.

Re: Space Anoat
Sounds and looks awesome. Watching the portion of the video without the SWBF2 HUD brings me back memories of Star Wars flight simulators/arcade-style games in the old days. And it's called Space Anoat too so that's a plus. Really looking forward to trying Wave mode in space!

Re: Space Anoat
Hmm... a wave mod in space while flying one of the most highly maneuverable crafts ever built, sounds epic enough to me. Yay for space maps (or should I say space waves)!!

Nice, although I noticed the Falcon has contrails still.
*off topic -- I really wish Pandemic had taken the extra 20 minutes to make the cockpit of their model not look so horrible. It looks 20x worse with the awesome internal cockpit view, too.

There are no contrails; you do see damage effects when it turned because it was damaged.Teancum wrote:Nice, although I noticed the Falcon has contrails still.

To quote the somewhat famous pilot of the Falcon "Never tell me the odds"Maveritchell wrote: Since it's a pretty big piloting challenge (although your odds of losing should be significantly less than 3720:1)
Looks really good and challenging, as someone mentioned like the training sims on some of the earlier Star Wars games, reminds me must think again about a good way to do the pilot proving ground type map, but I digress.
I am assuming unlike wavemode for arena, this one is not necessarily multiplayer friendly, unless you can go in as a gunner.
Looking forward to this.

Right. So far the only two MP wave modes are still Kamino and Hoth.FragMe! wrote:I am assuming unlike wavemode for arena, this one is not necessarily multiplayer friendly, unless you can go in as a gunner.

looks great
and reminds me of shadows of the empire (where you actually have to fight tiefighters with a modified YT-freighter in a asterioidfield right after the battle of hoth )

That has nothing to do with Space Anoat and has alreadly been addressed a few topics down: http://www.gametoast.com/forums/viewtop ... 74&t=21902
