Problem with my Wii...

Post by redgroupclan »

I just bought Guitar Hero, and when I put it in to play on my Wii, my Wii said I would need a system update to play it. Now here's the worrysome part-
When I selected to install the update, it basically said "If you have made any sort of unauthorized technical modifications to your Wii, your console could become inoperable."
My brother installed something on our Wii that lets him hack Animal Crossing: City Folk...I thought it was harmless so I thought nothing of it. Now that I've got a new game and need a system update for it I'm being told that because of what my brother did our entire console may go kaput if I install that system update.
Can anyone tell me if it's for sure that the console will become inoperable? Or can someone offer some other solution/advice?

Even if you "brick" your Wii you can always use the Twilight Princess hack to restore it to a working state. I've had to do that for some folks who tried to mod their Wii for nefarious purposes.

Guess that just goes to show them :D

Alright, Tean. I'll have to keep in touch with you.
I'm just about to erase the hacking Homebrew channel my brother installed and do the update...
If my Wii gets bricked I am going to smack him upside the head again.

Edit: Well, everything turned out A-O-K! :D

I had a Wii bricked once...it was no fun. Glad you managed to keep it working.
By the way, you wouldn't happen to play Call of Duty: Reflex for the Wii, would you?
