Odd web browser problem

Post by Ping »

So, I've noticed lately, that while I'm surfing the web, if I try to open a new tab, the tab never loads and just says "Connecting" the whole time. Yet, when I type the web address in, or I click on the link so it opens in the current window, the link works. I also found out that my comp won't even load when I click on an external link, yet the page will still load if I type the address in. I'm using Internet Explorer as my web browser. Any suggestions on what to do?

Well, you'd get this response anyways, probably, but you might wanna try a new browser, like Firefox or Chrome. Now, more importantly, open up the task manager and go to processes. See if you're at 100% of your comp's power, and then check to see if any programs in particular are using most of it. I had this problem before, except it was reversed, (pages only loaded if I middle-mouse clicked the link) and I just ended the process that was wasting all of that precious CPU. (1gig FTL) Of course, it may be a vital process, so you could get screwed by doing that. Just see if it's a specific process hogging processing power.

The CPU usage is staying around 10%, though it spikes to 100 if I have to post a mesage like this, but I think that's to be expected.

JK, both are good browsers, and much better than IE.

My suggestion would be to, if you don't wanna switch browsers, is to reset your internet settings.
Tools > Internet Options > Advanced (tab) > Reset
However, this means you lose all your saved data and things like that, so you might not wanna do that.

Honestly if you are an IE user, you may want to try Firefox, as it is very similar to IE in terms of its look (Whereas Chrome is more like Opera or Safari)

If you like a lot of customization, go firefox. If you like your browser to be really fast, go chrome. I'd say read up on both and go from there. The best way to find out which one is for you is to do the research yourself (same goes for choosing any sort of software or product).
