Picture of the Day broken
It's been broken for a while now, and judging by the comments about the picture I'm not the only one having this problem. I just get that little red X in the box where the picture should be. I'm not sure if it's just this picture or if it will continue to happen to all the next pictures as well. Anyone know whats wrong with it?

That. It hasn't been updated since, I wanna say, June. And then you CAN see it if you log in to the homepage.RogueKnight wrote:It hasn't been updated in years*.DarthHamster wrote:It's been broken for a while now, and judging by the comments about the picture I'm not the only one having this problem. If I'd known that I wouldn't have bothered posting this, whoops.RogueKnight wrote: It hasn't been updated in years*.

What exactly do you mean? I've logged in plenty of times and I can never see it.Fluffy_the_ic wrote:you CAN see it if you log in to the homepage.

Re: Picture of the Day broken
the person who used to update pic o the day has "moved on" and no one else is the "pic updater" so it remains as the last one that was put up. Before I login its a blank image , when im logged in its the bantha r2d2 pic from rends custom map months ago. I dont have time to update it and I cant ask the staff and moderators who already do so much to update a pic daily so unless someone nominates themselves I guess I can remove that feature of the site. shame as people seemed to like it but i guess it gets old logging in and putting images up every day or week. we could do a map pic of the month and im sure someone could update that since its 12 changes a year...anyone
or if someone can find an auto pic putter upper.

I could do it (weekly), or build a php script to make it auto update, but it could take alot of testing. Its possible for me.

I'll volunteer to do it, since I'm on GT at least three times a day.

Re: Picture of the Day broken
well the site uses a cms for the front page that is supposed to do many things like automate logins to protect from spammers and moderate chat and even flip and pick random picks of the day BUT since day 1 of using joomla , it has not been able to run correctly, everything is enabled its just a crappy frontend in my opinion, freeware ppppft.

Yeah, I personally never liked Joomla. What CMS were you running before?

Re: Picture of the Day broken
before was postnuke. it was a hacker nightmare and also ate server resources like mad. it ate like 90% cpu and ram just to make a post or server up a download file. this was supposed to be quicker and streamlined but personally most things I addon to joomla blow and never work right. i put a random star wars pic thing up until i figure a more realistic way of providing upload pic of the day option, thanks those that emails and posted wanting to help ill see what we can do.

If you want, I can start making a auto update POTD thing, but i'll need to know how you put the images on the server (database and the script gets info from it, in a folder and a flat file script get them, etc.). I would love to do it for you, but its your decision if you want me to.

"Jawas Random Pics"
. Well it's better than a big red X in an empty box.
