Can't mod Halo Combat Evolved

I use the Halo Map Tools 3.5, I made my modications then tried to open the map and it crashes and says this. "We have detected that one of the halo pc files is missing or corrupted". I know about Halo trial and Custom Edition but I just want to mod the original. Help?

As far as I know, the original is unmoddable, but custom edition is extremely mod friendly. They both run seperately, so it's not like 1.1/1.0 patches, it's like having 2 halos.
