I have a 2 year old HP computer that had vista. It now has 7 on it and it is working fine.

Same. Mine's only a couple of years old (flat wide screen monitor, not one of those ancient round ones) and it works great with Win7 except for the accursed blue screens.

Well whoopity doo! That's exactly why I said "Not everything has stable Windows 7 drivers yet"

*sigh* I just knew someone couldn't resist saying that Windows 7 works perfect for them. That wasn't my point.

Monitor means squat, its not the system unit. Post your specs, if needed, we could even hunt down drivers if you can't find any.

Manufacturer: Gateway
Model#: ? (check the case for this)
Processor:?
Motherboard:?
RAM:?
Video Card:?
Sound Card:?

If you don't know that info, look up CPU-Z, download it, run it (on that comp), then provide all the info it gives to us. It even pulls IDs from non standard parts used by manufacturers.

Thats exactly what I was going to say, while you're at it, download and install Specy, it's made by Piriform if that'll help find it.

Well, sorry to burst your bubble but my dad ran a computer repair earlier today and it seems to be working fine now. I'll update you if I get any more blue screens.

Sorry, but I don't want to download anything that will disrupt my computer performance since it seems to be working okay right now. Haven't gotten a blue screen yet today.

Can an admin or mod please lock this topic? Thanks!

For future reference, you can get system specs on xfire, I'll walk you through it on xfire if you have the time.

No need to be rude, he doesn't have to do something just because you tell him to.

Piriform is a trust worthy company, they make 3 other highly useful computer tools, and I've never had an issue with them.

Defraggler- Hard Drive/Flash Drive defragmenter utility, faster then the built in Windows tool
CCleaner- System cleanup and registry cleaner. Much better then the Windows Cleanup utility
Recuva- Deleted file recovery application, works quite well.

I suggested CPU-Z because it does pull all the necessary info, and more, its reliable, problem free, and it is also used extensively by enthusiasts and overlockers.

I guarantee you that any Piriform application or CPU-Z will not mess your computer. I've used both for years with out problems.

Hardware Monitor (HMonitor) is also a useful tool for watching part temperatures while running applications that eat up alot of system resources. Good tool to check for heating problems and to see if you have good cooling.

Sorry if I was rude, it just seemed like he skipped over those two posts, and I never said he had to because I said so, it was advice, again sorry.

Well, I'll leave this open for about a week just in case you might develope the problem again. We can assume you just did a windows repair and that was it? Did you use the original drivers/software and not download updated ones? As for the specs, just give a model number of the gateway and we can look it up from there.
