If you don't mind credit, that would be awesome. Just in the readme is fine.

Oh, of course - it'd be criminal to not credit you. How's "programming consultant" sound?

Re: Halo-Inspired 2-D Platformer
Don't worry, so was I, lol.
At any rate, I've got a representational (playable from start to finish, but not fully complete) Level 1 ready. I'm probably going to fix a few glitches and finish the level editor, but once that's done, the Alpha should be ready.

Re: Halo-Inspired 2-D Platformer
Finally finished the Alpha! I've sent the testers, whom I'd like to thank once more, a PM with the download link. I'd appreciate it if you could post your thoughts on the Alpha in this topic. Oh, and just to let you know, I'm going to be on vacation for most of this week, and I'm not sure whether I'll have internet access.

Re: Halo-Inspired 2-D Platformer
It's pretty good, but some of the weapons can't be picked up, I don't know how to switch grenades or open doors. Other than that its fine.

Re: Halo-Inspired 2-D Platformer
Ah, my apologies! I meant to send some instructions in the PM. Here goes:
Aim with the mouse, fire with the left button, build grenade power with the right button, release to throw. Move with A and D. Hold shift to crouch. Spacebar jumps. Press E to pick up weapons. Press Q to switch to your carried weapon. Press escape to return to the main menu or, on the main menu, quit the game.
Regarding the level editor - click to select an object from the left side of the screen, click in the middle area to place it, right click to delete. The objects are, from top-to-bottom: 2x2 platform, 1x1 platform, player spawn point, enemy spawn point, and your objective. (The last two may be reversed, but the cake is the objective.)
Incidentally, I don't believe there are any opening doors - any doors in the game are simply background decoration.
Hopefully that helps a bit.

Re: Halo-Inspired 2-D Platformer
Agh, forgot one more thing. When you're using the editor, press spacebar to save the level so you can play it with the "load" button on the main menu.
UPDATE 12/7: Well, I feel a need to update this - may as well prove I'm not dead, heh. I've discovered a means to produce MIDI music files, so the game will most likely have custom music; MIDI files sound very retro, but that's probably not a bad thing. I'm also working on the next level, which shouldn't be too hard given that the game engine is already complete.

Re: Halo-Inspired 2-D Platformer
Sounds like your making nice progress. I have a question regarding your ground collisions. How do you make the player stop when he hits the ground? (I know many methods, I just want to know yours)

Re: Halo-Inspired 2-D Platformer
I have it set so that upon collision with obj_platform (which I'm using as the parent of all platform objects), the player object moves to contact position (direction = direction, maximum = 12), and the vertical speed is set to 0.
Incidentally, I've just finished a tremendous assignment, so I'll have a lot more free time to work on this now.

Re: Halo-Inspired 2-D Platformer
Ok. I know of many methods, but the only one that really worked was the collision_line one. Thanks!

Re: Halo-Inspired 2-D Platformer
Seems interesting? Will there ever be a public release(possible spelling fail)?

Re: Halo-Inspired 2-D Platformer
Computergeek - no problem.
Blade117 - if you mean a public beta, I may or may not have one. If you were asking whether I'm going to release the game when completed, then yes, most definitely (though that's not going to be for some time).
