Re: The HELLO / GOODBYE topic
I know that I have been gone for a long time, and have hardly posted in the past several months, though I have been surfing the forum, just not replying to any posts. I apologize for not saying good-bye sooner, as I should have.
I am very busy, and have been for months now. Besides 16 credits this semester at college, I am working 20 hours a week on average.
Anyone can find me on the site below. It has a number of Free-to-Play MMO(massively-multiplayer online) games, and just hit 4 million members in the past month.
AeriaGames
I am Aureus on the forums there.
Another reason why I stopped modding is this: I had been playing MMORPGs since August 2007, so last year, but I really got into playing those last November, when Shaiya came out in Closed Beta. I've been playing that game since then, and now I am a GameSage for the Lailah server. For those who aren't sure what that is, I am basically a volunteer game official, one of the assistants to the Game Masters who run the games. So I have been really busy during my free time with the responsibilities a GS has in the game.
Also, I got a little bored of modding. I think that what did it was my Battle of Geonosis. I wanted to make a Geonosis the looked and felt almost like it came straight from the movie, and I think I accomplished that for the most part. That map really was my first map, and was originally planned as just a simple extension of the shipped Geonosis, but it turned into a total overhaul. I was probably to inexperienced to take on alone a job the size of what BOG turned out to be. I did the entire map and Republic side, the 125th, by myself, and it became extremely overwhelming as the map grew, and yet somehow there was no way to stop it from growing once it had started. And then all the problems with it, the fact that no matter what I tried there were bugs and (for other people, never for me with the latest version) constant crashes in the game, the original source file became corrupted(I think) and would not retain any changes to the terrain or position of certain objects, my own character flaw as a perfectionist, constantly trying to improve something and make it better, made me pretty much fed up with it.
If any experienced modder who is up for a challenge thinks that they can fix the problems with it, please let me know. It is done basically except for fixing some terrain issues, and the scripts for the hunt modes.
Anyway, it was great working with everyone and learning how to mod with such great people. Thank you all for the help with my mods and map, and I am really sorry that I will be leaving BOG in the condition that it is in, with the crashing and all. If I ever fix it I will release it.
I got to meet a lot of great people here, and really enjoyed being a part of the GT community for as long as I was.
Take care!!!
So if anyone wants to keep in touch with me for any reason, while I will occasionally log in here, for the most part I am on AeriaGames.com, and my current email is auralie@yahoo.com.
