Best Movie of the Summer
Yes, I got the idea of this topic from Superhero of the Summer.
Ok, so there are the choices I know I forgot some but I just remembered the big ones.
Mine Had to be Tropic Thunder, It was Violent and Funny, What A great combination!
If you choose other then Please Specify

Dark Knight gets my vote again.
Just saw Tropic Thunder yesterday, loved it
Lots of language though, didn't expect that, but I loved that one scene...

Re: Best Movie of the Summer
Hard to choose. There were a lot of great movies. The ones I loved the most were...
The Dark Knight
Iron Man
Hellboy II: The Golden Army
Wanted (I wasn't expecting to like this one)
Pineapple Express
Tropic Thunder
Wall-E
Step Brothers was pretty funny, too, but all of the other movies I saw weren't particularly memorable. I'm going to buy the above and hold off on buying Indy IV until the inevitable quadrilogy box set comes out.
Speaking of box sets, they're releasing a Prequel Trilogy box set and another OT box set in November. No details yet but unless these have some really good special features then I'm gonna stick with the DVD's I already have.

Those are just rereleases of old material. Same old song and cash grab.

"Horton Hears a Who" was good. Very funny.
Indy was great.
Speedracer sucked. Badly.
Narnia was good, even though they changed the story a lot.
But in the end, Dark Knight gets my vote.

That's not exactly a fair assessment. Technologically it was very impressive (some of the cinematic techniques they used were very innovative), and even those who didn't enjoy the movie should at least acknowledge that positive aspect.MasterSaitek009 wrote:Speedracer sucked. Badly.
Personally, I thought it was hilarious and pretty enjoyable. I actually had a better time watching that movie than I did any other movie this summer.

Point. Visual effects were very nice. Although at one point I had to close my eyes because of all the flashing. Basically it was a DannBoeing map.Maveritchell wrote:That's not exactly a fair assessment. Costumes and acting on the other hand could use some work.
Also, I didn't like the monkey.

Re: Best Movie of the Summer
I actually thought the strengths of the movie weren't related to its flashiness, but rather with the acting. They played the tropes of the original show very straight, and it was almost like watching a live-action version of the original cartoon. It was as faithful as I've ever seen any cartoon/comic-book adaptation, and I think that's what I liked.MasterSaitek009 wrote:Costumes and acting on the other hand could use some work.

For me it would be Indiana Jones. Still the dark night was my second favorate. You have got to love that Joker.

The Dark Knight is my favorite. (I only saw that and Clone Wars, so The Dark Knight is clearly Superior)

Alright, that's my problem; I'd never seen or heard of Speed Racer before this movie. If I had seen a few of the cartoons, I probably would have appreciated it more.Maveritchell wrote: They played the tropes of the original show very straight, and it was almost like watching a live-action version of the original cartoon. Nim's Island was okay. Jodie Foster did a great job as a perfectionist/agoraphobic.

The only new movie I saw this summer was Prince Caspian. It was okay.

Even though its winter here, I must give my vote to the Dark Knight. I also went to go see Tropic Thunder.. and it was absolutely HILARIOUS!

Of the summer? The Dark Knight truly is the best movie of all time! Seen it 4 times, once in IMAX and i'm going in for a 5th.
