Today we finally upgraded from dial-up. It's so much faster. Needless to say I'm in 7th heaven.
By doing the speed test at Speakeasy.com, before and after the upgrade, I was able to see just how much faster it really is.

Here are my 56k dial-up results:
Download Speed: 39 kbps (5.2 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 223 kbps (28 KB/sec transfer rate) (I was a little shocked to see that my upload had a better speed than my download.)


My smoking 1.5Mbps connection results:
Download Speed: 1610 kbps (201.3 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 848 kbps (106 KB/sec transfer rate)

I might actually be able to play some games online now!

So, what results do you guys get from the test?

NOTE: This is on a wireless internet connection from a router that's like 5 years old at least, and is going through 3 or 4 walls to get to my low memory laptop. Well, only like 1 GB of memory, but still.

You guys are so lucky... When I'm downloading something, it's like 69 KB/sec. It takes hours...

Considering I leave my computer on like 24/7 though means I can download stuff practically anytime I want.

Recently, I upgraded to this accelerator that allows me to SURF the internet up to 5 times faster. Notice that 'surf' is bolded and capitalized all letters:

Download Speed: 1071 kbps (133.9 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 1218 kbps (152.3 KB/sec transfer rate)

The only reason why it is even faster (not really) is because images aren't loaded at full quality. You can even set your speed too, the faster the speed, the blurrier the images. Looking through this thread makes me wish I had high speed internet. It takes me about at least 4 minutes to download a 1 MB file.
