WIP: Tatooine Docking Bay

Okay so I beta tested it. So heres a list of errors and changes you might wish to dwell upon. If you want images of some of what I am talking about, just ask.

1) Bot movement (I know this is challenging) is incomplete. The battle is straightforward where you have a whole city (with more than one route) but only one route is taken.

2) The middle of route one has a geonosis cave. If you can, reskin it.

3) Players dont like going out of the other side of the cave. Rebels think they can go over it while the Empire thinks theres some secret door in the cave wall.

4) Terrain texture is a little too rocky, if you can some how tone it down, that'd be cool.

5) Terrain is alittle too bumpy, try smoothing it out.

6) From the start of the first rebel cp, if you wander off you find a hole that leads you onto an endless pit where you drop for infinity.

Thanks for the comments, you're the first person who (I think) actually cares, lol.

1) I set up the Planning so that there are two different paths, but I guess they only take one.

2) I'll try to reskin, can't say anything about the outcome though

3) I wanted a hole of some sort that could connenct two places of my map. Guess that didn't work out either, lol. Do you think I should refine the tunnel or try a bridge?

4) Is is the Mos Eisley terrain (I think). And tell me what you mean by 'tone it down', colorwise or just the way it is based?

5) I personaly liked the bumpiness, but maybe I overdid it

6) I plan to add a death region there. BTW, did you find my little secret?

7 (I guess)) Pictures would be great

Thanks for beta testing this. I plan to change these things and a few more in the next version.

ok, I tested your map. overall, its a decent map.

1. floating objects! there are a lot of them! play through your level with no ai and find them all and fix them.

2. Terrain: I didn't like the way the terrain looked. try using the height blend tool a little.

3. Object colors: several buildings don't blend well with other objects. the geonosis cave is probably the worst of all of these.

4. AI barriers: there are some locations where ai clump together by walls.


like I said before, this is a pretty good map, it just needs some more work.

i tested it it was good and at the 2 holes the one i fell in but i could get out i flew over the other as boba fett and then when i was in the air a rancor pulled me out of the air and killed me! was the rancor the secret? but the map was great excpt that the only that the only way into the second arena was from the impires starting cp or the genoissis cave.

I love your Map.To play Boba is awsome.The idea of Docking Bay is great.
I have some Things you can change or Add (when you want):

More Buildings with Bridges.The Bridges in Map have the wrong Color and don`t look like Tatooine.
More Docking Bays with Ships in it (like Slave One,Jabba`s Sail Barge in a heavy Bay with Jabba on his Throne,a AT-AT at the 1st CP or a wrecked Sandcrawler or Water Canals, A Rancor in a Pit and some Jawas walking around) That would be great...


When you fix the Things, you listed in a Topic above,this would be One of the best Maps. (for me :wink: )
Can you give me Tip for the Secret? I don`t find any holes with the Rancor. :oops:

the rancor is over the 2 holes by the begingeing to get to the holes just look for the bridge and the way the ai take and then go the opsite way and then go over the holes dont fall in the second one or u wi ll fall trough the bottem well after the 2 holes then u are at the rancor *note* there is a glitch way to get to the rancor

The bridges were originally from Naboo; if anyone wants to reskin it for me it would be awsome and they would get a place in the credits.

I could try to add more dockying bays, but filling them with Slave 1, AT-AT, water canals, and wrecked sandcrawler would not be posssible ( or practical). There are no models and skins of Slaver One that I can easily get. I don't thing that the sandcrawler is in the mod tools. An AT-AT would not fit into the city (unless that is if you were suggesting I expand the city to the wilderness a bit, which ould make it even harder to build for a first time mapper). Water canals for the same reason as before.
Those I would not be able tto put in without models and skins, as as far as I know, there are no such models (looking at first few).
Thanks for the pics. Next time though (if there is a next time..... :roll: ), try to get some infantry shots.

Yes I know.I meant that an AT-AT @ the 1st CP staying (not playable) for GCW would not bad.
My Pic`s on Wookiepedia are only for getting some Impressions,I know that you dont can use it for Mapping. :wink:

And definitly YES: There is a next Time for making Infantery shots.

Why are they a little white-tinted? And some of those are good. If there is another next time, try to get some beauty (showing off anti-aliasing, light bloom, and full graphics) shots. Such as explosings, a close-up pic of large numbers of units fighting, and so on.

I see it.For another Map I turn of Lightning and forgot to turn it on,all other Stettings are at it`s best.The Pic´s are all Bantha Puthu. :(
Next Time I try to make better Screens.
Are you working on the Bot Problem for the next Version?

Lol about the Lighting. As of now, I'm taking a short break (I seem to take a lot of those) due to school just starting. When things have calmed down a bit I will resume work.
