Windows Media Player Problem

Post by sawyerdk9 »

Hello Everyone. How are you feeling today. Oh well I'm fine, thanks for asking. I just have a little question. I am not able to burn CD's or copy music files to and MP3 player throught Windows Media Player. When I try to Copy the music to CD, it says "Interface Not Registered" This only started happening the first time I did a System Restore a long time ago. It isn't that big of a problem, just more of an annoyance.

Do you have a disc drive capable of writing CDs?

Yeah, I can still burn CDs. There is another program but it is kindof sucky. I used to burn them just fine, until I did the Sys Restore.

i have a similar problem like yours, only i didn't do a system restore. try seeing if the song your trying to play requires a licence to play. I'm not good at this, so if i'm missing this by a long shot, let me know.

This might not help much, but I really dont like the WMP burning system. That's why I use iTunes. It's a lot easier. Make a list, one click, and it starts burning :D

Off-topic : Alright, I do not know too much whether the following Advice might properly work out the Issue you are currently experiencing while attempting to use certain Features of Microsoft® Windows Media Player, but as the content of the Error Message you have kept receiving so far has unexpectedly and amazingly reminded me some past Situations referring to comparable problems, I would merely advise you to open up the "[Start menu] > Run..." Command before typing into the newly-called Window the Instruction being written after the current Statement, while reminding that chances to fix up once for all the troubles having been mentioned along this thread nevertheless remain rather unsignificant for now, because of the Lack of Precise Details and additional Informations we all may have suffered from earlier. Moreover, having a look at the Instructions and Reports made available by Microsoft® towards this web-address could certainly appear as being at the very least welcome and helpful...

Code: Select all

regsvr32 ole32.dll

Alright I did have the correct version number 9.0.0.2980.

Well I ran regsvr32 ole32.dll and this is what I come up with.

A window opens saying "DllRegisterServer in ole32.edll succeeded."

The name at the top of the window says "RegSvr32"

Off-topic : Well, if you go on seeing the exact same Error Message to pop up after having proceeded to the Step I have mentioned previously, then you will have to consider reinstalling your current Microsoft® Windows Media Player Version, or even perhaps get your hands down on a newly-proposed one being certainly a little more appreciable and functional than the Variant you have executed so far. Moreover, as this last Advice is even suggested by Microsoft® on its Official Online Location, be sure Alternate Procedures intended to work out this Issue must be actually somewhat restricted, but if you would keep being eager not to follow these precedent Hints, then you will have to draw up a List of all Dynamic Link Libraries located towards the "[Hard-Drive's letter]\Program Files\Windows Media Player" Directory before running the following Instruction through the "Run..." Command present inside the "[Start menu]" Path :
regsvr32 [Each of the referred *.DLL files]

Darn it, beat me too it again *snaps fingers*.

Just as he says. WMP 10 has been out a while with 'better" features (really couldn't tell much of a difference). Unless you have a reason to run v.9, (which I would be more than happy to give the lengthy instructions to do a clean install of it), best to upgrade to see if the problem is solved. If not, report back here. I have another suspivion that could be causing it, but it rarely happens. ( and I do mean rare.)

Thanks guys for all the help with this. It is really appreciated.

Levithan, your first idea with the .dll thing didn't work. I'm going to upgrade it and see if the problem continues.

I probably should have said this earlier but when the error pops up you can click on "web help"

It brings you to this page.

Off-topic : Launching a Relevant and Suitable Search through Google© Meta Search Engine won't be certainly more Productive and helpful than right now, and as far as I can tell, installing a freshly-downloaded Version of Microsoft® Windows Media Player is probably among the most efficient Means to work out troubles comparable to those having been reported so far inside this thread. Furthermore, while we are at it, I would suggest repatriating and expanding the Eleventh Release of this wide-spread Multimedia Player if you own Microsoft® Windows XP and the last "Service Pack" having been developped and intended towards the aimed Operating System, as it seems this Product is shipping with Functionalities and Visual Elements making it even more easy-to-use and organizable than this Devising's Predecessors...

Only prob with that is MP9 is stock on XP. Rolling back means fiddling with the whole operating system. system file checker is supposed to work, but I've never had luck with it. But that don't mean some else won't. I know how to do it, but if I remember correctly it pertained to downloading system files from another source than MS. I'm normally weery of that. Wasn't too hard though. That's why I'm hoping the upgrade will work. And they have an 11? I need to surf more...

Off-topic : Believe me, downloading and expanding the latest Version of Microsoft® Windows Media Player should make things ever easier to manipulate and assimilate than ever before, and that's why I would highly suggest proceeding to this Task as much fastly as possible. Once you will be done, be sure thinking about your previous Multimedia Player and associated Functionalities will be sufficiently tough not to succeed in remembering them, additionally to the fact both the Tenth and Eleventh Releases of it have been made much more Coherent and Accessible than all other ones having been provided previously, and altough they may require additional Available System Resources, I assume you will not be eventually disappointed for having decided to drop out your good-old Microsoft® Windows Media Player 9.[#] Variant...
