007: Nightfire PC -- it's AWFUL!!!

Post by Teancum »

So I was bored. I needed a break from editing. So I say to myself "Self, you should try the 007: Nightfire PC demo. The console game was awesome, how could they screw up the PC version?" Well they did. Sloppy controls, terrible animation... just downright awful. What a waste of time.

Agreed. I love playing Nightfire with my friend and his little brother on his GameCude©, as we make a multiplayer game "us vs AI" against a a bunch of M16 operatives with "Guardian" personalities a sort of coop game, in which we'd get pwned into the next game (lol)

...but even our worst games beat the crap outta the entire demo experience...I'm glad I tried it before I got it...

Off-topic : Teancum, in case you would have neither tried out or even purchased most of the Electronic Arts® Products belonging to the "James Bond 007" Series, then I would suggest proceeding so as soon as possible in order to learn that your above Comments and Regrets could be applied towards almost all of these same video-games, no matter whether they have been recently released or apparently polished by their respective Authors, which has actually led to their fast Drop Out and depreciating...

Semi-Off-topic: The 007 James Bond licene is now owned by Activision. So no more EA James Bond games...4 now at least.

@ Lev -- I've played quite a few 007 games. In fact all of them aside from Agent Under Fire and The World Is Not Enough. I enjoyed them all immensely. I was just incredibily disappointed by Gearbox's PC port of Nightfire, which should have remained a console game.

Just for fun, I'd rate the 007 games as such:

1-Nightfire (console only)
2-Everything or Nothing (only took 2nd because of the poor multiplayer)
3-Goldeneye
4-From Russia With Love (again with terrible multiplayer)
5-Goldeneye: Rogue Agent (the medium setting was more like a hard setting. It annoyed me and I therefore never finished)
6-Tomorrow Never Dies (poor PS1 gameplay)

Off-topic : Knowing the Decisions and Choices being usually voted and eventually made by Activision®, I think that the Conceiving and Development of upcoming video-games belonging to the "James Bond 007" Series would be probably entrusted to Groups or Studios having progressively acquired and mastered Advanced Knowledges into the implicated Domains, in order to make sure that these same Products would have chances to take advantage of sort of "Redemption" once they would be announced and released, without forgetting that this may not be worth a try because of the decreasing Amount of persons having purchased previous Titles...

I suggest a Gamecube emulator and rom, if one exists. Thet way you'd get a seemless port and good graphics. But I don't know if any existing emulaters support using them ouse or not.

Off-topic : I have noticed that a consequent Amount of Emulating Environments primarily intended towards Nintendo® GameCube video-games had been developped and made available to owners of Microsoft® Windows-based Platforms, and that's why I would greatly suggest consulting the content dispensed on this web-page, while reminding that succeeding in locating one or more ROM's associated to the James Bond 007 : Nightfire Product might not be that easy and legal to achieve, as I have not found any so far...

I've got a Gamecube, I just didn't have the money for Nightfire. I wanted to try the PC demo because I heard the driving missions were replaced with regular FPS missions.

Off-topic : From now on, I assume you will avoid paying too much attention towards News and Informations embellishing the exact contents inherent to one picked up video-game, which is especially valuable for those forming the "James Bond 007" fastly-abandoned Series. Indeed, I have almost never ceased avoiding to purchase and play Entertainment Products having been simply ported from one Console Version, since the produced Outcome is usually way far from being at least as much appreciable as the Original one, as happened through the PC Variant of Peter Jackson's King Kong - The Official Game of the Movie, amongst a lot of other similar cases...

Spiderman 2 was another good example of a terrible PC port. They changed the entire style of gameplay.

Off-topic : Yes, that's right, I had ever heard about the fact this Activision® Product did not really take advantage of Elements being as much enjoyable as those embedded in the Console Versions of Spider-Man 2 The Game, but we cannot say either that the Comments and Reviews phrased by Specialized Companies like IGN Entertainment© or UnderGroundOnline© could have helped Possible Purchasers of this Design to realize that ordering the concerned Spider-Man Derived Stuff might not be eventually worth a try and that advised...

Off-topic : That's indeed an Opinion being globally shared by persons having chosen to order and play this Nintendo® 64 video-game, but we mustn't forget that the Specialized Company which was in charge of its development had been held away from the Licenses Acquiring Campaign launched by Electronic Arts® at the time the conceiving of GoldenEye 007 had been initiated, and that was way before further "James Bond 007" Titles were released and led their multiple Purchasers towards a certain Disappointment...

i played that game on the n64 and it was fun. Perfect Dark 64 had a better multiplayer though and had some Bond maps too.

and based on some of the reviews about the gcn version of 007: Nightfire, i might want to obtain that for my multiplayer collection (and its less than 20 US dollars, though it might be hard to find it in a store)

PS2 nightfire rocks...

Just because you could play the multiplayer mode for a year and still not get bored..
It helps if you have a friend though, just you against bots isnt all that fun

Off-topic : Dabrowski, as far as I am concerned, getting your hands on the willed Nintendo® GameCube video-game might not be indeed that easy to achieve thanks to Physical Stores, and that's why I would instead highly advise you to launch a few Searches through Google® in order to locate Virtual Locations meeting your Expectations, such as those being referred inside this Shopping.com web-page, amongst other possible Ways of purchasing the concerned Electronic Arts® Product...
