AnthonyBF2's Multi-Project Thread
Posted: Sat Aug 15, 2020 3:21 am
I am creating a new thread that will be used to inform the public of current and future projects that I have going on. For the last few years I have kept my projects in my Discord server but I want them here again to help get more exposure.
The Discord server will remain the primary home for all of my projects and this page will be the secondary home. Any Download links will **ONLY** be available in the Discord server.
I intend to update this at least a few times per month starting now with information about the projects as I go along such as alerts for new releases and progress updates.
Discord link: New link at the bottom with an important notice!
The PSP mod:
This is a complete rebuild of Star Wars Battlefront 2 (2005) for the PSP console. This project is still in development with many, many things left to finish.
The latest version is V8 Final. We call it V8 Final because it's the last update until version 9. The finished version 9 should be ready in July 2021.
You will need a hacked PSP, a hacked Vita, or a PC/Phone strong enough to run the PPSSPP emulator.
I have created an alternative release page for V8 Final with downloads and instructions on the PSP Reddit, located here:
https://www.reddit.com/r/PSP/comments/m ... emastered/
We CANNOT discuss console hacking and obtaining roms on this website.
You can find more information about the old PSP projects and the current PSP project & learn how to hack your device by joining the Discord server.
Some of the things the PSP mod features:
- All Battlefront 1 (2004) levels
- All Battlefront 2 (2005) levels including the BF2 levels that were cut in the original PSP version
- Custom maps made by PC modders who've given me their source files
- Maps pulled from various Battlefront betas and demos from PS2, Xbox, and PC
- Freecam (pause menu)
- Command Console (pause menu)
The PS2 mod:
This is a complete rebuild of Star Wars Battlefront 2 (2005) for the PS2 console. This project is still in development with many, many things left to finish.
The latest release is version 7.1. The next version 8 should be ready by fall 2021.
You will need a hacked PS2, a hacked PS3, or a PC strong enough to run the PCSX2 emulator.
You can best determine if your PC is strong enough by checking the Single Thread Rating (STR) on your CPU.
Recommended STR: 2500 or higher. No lower than 1900. I've been using the i7-3920XM so far with STR 2025 and Battlefront 1 & 2 usually give 85% to 100% performance in the PCSX2 emulator.
You can purchase a $10 PS2 emulator (DamonPS2) in the Android Play Store but this is NOT recommended. The people who released that app stole the free open source code from the PCSX2 emulator.
I DO NOT recommend giving your money to people whole stole their product from somewhere else. Even if you buy it, it still comes with silly restrictions such as requiring an internet connection at all times.
The app would also only perform well on very high end devices such as Note 9 with the Snapdragon 845 processor.
We CANNOT discuss console hacking and obtaining roms on this website.
You can find more information about the PS2 mod and learn how to hack your PS2 or PS3 system by joining the Discord server.
Some of the things the PS2 mod features:
- All Battlefront 1 (2004) levels
- All Battlefront 2 (2005) levels (obviously) but many are adjusted to give better performance or graphics
- Custom maps made by PC modders who've given me their source files
- Maps pulled from various Battlefront betas and demos from PS2, Xbox, and PC
- Freecam (pause menu)
- Command Console (pause menu)
- Maps converted from PSP Battlefront games - Elite Squadron & Renegade Squadron
- The PS2 mod 7.1 features a remastered splitscreen HUD and removed boot logos so you will wait less time when starting the game
Battlefront 1 for PS2:
This project hasn't gotten really far yet as I don't have a lot of concern for BF1. Also, BF1 is a more primitive game with more modding restrictions, less freedom to do what I want.
So far I have one update for Battlefront 1 on PS2. The first update simply adds two new characters:
- Imperial officer - comes with blaster pistol, orbital strike that functions like a sniper rifle, and some health & ammo packs.
- Bothan spy - comes with some sort of blaster rifle, time bombs, and disguise tool that makes you look like a stormtrooper that makes the imperials stop attacking you.
Both new characters & their weapons were pulled from the BF1 demo on the Jam Pack 11 PS2 demo disc.
Both new characters are available on every GCW era level except for Hoth & Cloud City, reason: memory limits.
At the time, another user is working on a better BF1 PS2 project with several new maps and one new character for each team. I will post some information about that once it is released.
As always..... We CANNOT discuss console hacking and obtaining roms on this website. You can find more information about this mod and learn how to hack your consoles by joining the Discord server.
Battlefront 1 & 2 for the Xbox system:
So far, the only major project going on for Xbox is Teancum's mod for Battlefront 2.
We already have a forum dedicated to that mod available here: http://gametoast.com/viewforum.php?f=75
We also have a section in our Discord server dedicated to that mod.
Some of the things this mod offers:
- All Battlefront 1 levels
- All Battlefront 2 levels (duh)
- Maps converted from PC mods
- New eras such as KOTOR
- Lots of new characters
- Retains all of the content from the official DLC packs
I myself had an Xbox system for a short time. I attempted to poke around the BF1 and BF2 files a little bit but I kept getting problems that prevented me from replacing certain game files or adding new files to both games.
I got rid of my Xbox and most of my other stuff because I am in the process of moving to a better place to live. Once I arrive a new location and get a job, I will immediately buy another Xbox and try again to begin my own projects.
HD PSP project:
The PPSSPP emulator has a setting that can be configured by the user to use different textures than what comes in a PSP game (any game). This means that we can use original HD (512x512) textures from the BF1 & BF2 source files.
These textures have to be prepared on a per-level basis. This means that if you prepare HD textures for certain characters on Coruscant but they won't be HD in other levels. Needless to say, we haven't updated very many textures yet.
In the Discord server, you can find a few prepared packs of textures for certain levels & characters, and some instructions on how to set them up.
The HD textures for BF2 on PSP are **ONLY** possible in the PPSSPP emulator. This is because it uses the device's graphics processor instead of the PSP limits.
The HD textures are **NOT** possible on any PSP model because you're on real hardware that has a very small limit of 2 megabytes (2MB).
The Collection Project:
It has been a goal of mine to collect as many of the Battlefront demos & betas as possible.
This is so that we can examine them and pull unused or unique content not seen in retail Battlefront games and import them into their respective retail versions.
So far we've recovered:
- Demo for BF1 on PS2
- Beta for BF2 on PS2
- Beta for BF2 on PC
- Beta for BF1 on Xbox
- Demo for BF1 on Xbox
- Demo for BF2 on Xbox
Wanted:
- Any sort of beta or demo for BF2 on PSP
- Any sort of beta for BF2 on Xbox
- Any sort of beta or demo for BF1 on PC
The Battlefront 2 beta for PS2 project:
This isn't something I've talked about much and I haven't made any releases available, mainly because I haven't made much progress.
A while ago, we recovered the BF2 beta for PS2. The beta has many issues but also some unique features. Some of the downsides include useless menu items, settings that do nothing, and hard to navigate the instant action screen.
Some of the unique features include:
- Entirely new hero death animations
- An alternative Tantive IV level
- Different but unfinished space levels
- Different menu styles
- Vehicle information in the spawn select screen (Like BF1 has)
- A different HUD
- BF1 style models & textures for various characters such as rebels, imperials, and clones
The project I have going on is that I am trying to convert the beta into fully playable alternative retail version. I'm trying to cleanup the menus, get all of the original BF2 content working such as characters, vehicles, and weapons, while still maintaining the unique content that comes in the beta. I don't touch this project very often, so don't expect a release soon. Any release would also only be functional in the PCSX2 emulator for reasons I don't feel like explaining right now.
Thanks for checking out this page and check back at later times for more stuff!
