KOTOR 2 Massive Update

Out of the blue, Steam has just released a huge update for KOTOR TSL. I'm reinstalling now to play it. Some of the new things are:
4k+5k resolution support
Widescreen resolution support
Steam Workshop built in, as well as the recommended Restored Content mod is already out
Mac + Linux support
Controller Support

And yet the default game is still full of gameplay bugs.

I wonder if Disney would do this for SWBF2 if we asked them. They worked with the Restoration mod team so I don't think its outside the realm of possibility. They have good reason to fix that sound bug that no one can seem to google how to fix.

Speaking of that sound bug, for the first time I experienced it after plugging in a new mic. I managed to fix it by re-enabling the old built-in mic (after the new one was unplugged), following these instructions:

Is there a way to get this update for the CD Version as well?? (Resolution, widescreen,..)

Do some googling, it's been out for a long time.
CD version doesn't have all these bugs for whatever reason, at least for me.
