Because Filefront allows people to download various files, I think it would be a great for members to sumbit skins/texture packs in a section where people can easily locate it.
I'm willing to submit my Skin Pack to you guys to use exclusively.

I think its a good idea, out downloads area is almost totally ignore by us admins though , its a huge pain to add files and make any upgrades to that area. I will hav a powwow with the fellas and see whats , if you want try to submit your files as a map and ill update it until then.

Off-topic : guru, now you are talking about the "
Uploading" Feature of
GameToast Server, I was wondering whether you would agree regarding the replacement of the
existing PHP /
MySQL© Form by another one, based on the fast-growing "
Asynchronous JavaScript And XML" Method, while knowing you could obtain
many informations about this "
emerging" Technology thanks to a
Google© Search similar to
this one...

But its not a map guru.
Also, I need to make sure of this. My skins are JPEGs so is it possible for mappers to use these types? If they didn't work, I would've been informed a while back.

Off-topic : Droideka88, Joint Photographic Experts Group Files do not show up many interests toward Star Wars Battlefront I / II Modders, as these LucasArts video-games exploit Targa ones, which are based on a Calculation Algorithm being much less "Destructive" than the one being mainly used by *.JPG Graphics Files, even though the "Compression Rate" you must have set during the Conceiving Progress of your own Textures was nearly of 0%. Above all, in case you decided to design additional ones in the future, then I would advise you to encode them into *.DDS, *.DNG or *.TGA Graphics, in order to get many more chances to keep in place most of the Visual Details contained inside them...

I see. It's weird but I noticed how in these topic, many of the skins are JPEGs and most mappers have used them and they work. Do you think this is good?

Off-topic : Droideka', the fact most of Star Wars Battlefront I / II Modders choose to feature JPEG Graphics Files toward the local Community is basically related to the fact the Hosting Web-Sites they usually employ cannot handle Targa files, but only more "Common" file-formats, such as the one your Textures are encoded to. Therefore, in case a few users decided to exploit these *.JPG files inside their own Projects, then they would have to proceed to a preliminary Conversion, which would reinforce the "Deterioration" of the treated Images. Moreover, it is not surprising to notice that showed up Pictures are usually not that exploited by "third-party" members, which explains why their respective Authors keep anyway a certain control on their Creations, by sharing the original *.TGA files with trusted persons only...

That's what the 'Addon Player Units' section is for. Skins can just go in there. It's no different. Units, are just the skin applied to a model.

The game won't read JPG files on a munge. It only reads TGA or PIC files, so what probably happens is people download the JPG files and convert them. If you upload files here, we ask that they already be in TGA format for ease of use.

Off-topic : Well, Droideka88, the fact a few "Skin Packs" hosted on FileFront© Servers contain custom Textures having been encoded into JPEG Graphics Files may have different explanations, among which we could probably mention the advantageous file-size of such Pictures, the wide-spreading of Image Editing Softwares being able to read and write *.JPG files, the fact Targa ones require the installation of specific Utilities and Plug-Ins, or even the fact some video-games still exploit such Pictures, like Star Wars : Jedi Knight Series' Products...

Hey you're right. That name does sound familar....
I'll jusy inform those who use filefront to use Infraview to do some converts.
If you convert though, isn't the file size going to be bigger than the original? My original file was JPEGs?
By the way, Guru, I can send the files tomorrow. Just be ready with a section for "Skin Packs".

Off-topic : IrfanView is perhaps one of the most downloaded and exploited Image Viewer Software in the
whole World, but we mustn't forget the existence of
similar ones, which are
really worth a trying out, such as
XnView,
FastStone Software® Image Viewer or even
Google© Picasa, additionally to the fact they
all own advantageous features and properties making them as much "
valuable" as Specialized Softwares you must pay for...

They're be the same but they won't be JPEGs. They're be TGAs. Maybe I'll a few new ones. I've been trying to modify how some appear. For instance, I'm going to try to make the Bowcaster a "bronzium" color since they're not really made of gray metal.
And everyone, I believe you could always use Adobe Photoshop to convert the file.

Off-topic : Yes, of course, Droideka88, but exploiting one of the Specialized Softwares I have proposed inside my previous message in order to proceed to "Batch" Conversions will surely require much less time than launching this Process through Adobe® Photoshop, while knowing the exact Cost of the concerned Products might favour the Image Viewing Utilities I may have talked about earlier...
