The Paranthesis

I've seen this too many times to continue to ignore it. A number of times now, I've seen posts in which there isn't a space between a word and an opening paranthesis.

Something like this:
Nah, it's today(the 12th).
Should instead be:
Nah, it's today (the 12th).
Always put a space before and after an opening or losing paranthesis, respectively; the only exception is when there's any sort of punctuation mark after the closing paranthesis, in which case no space should be inserted therein, like what was done (correctly so) in the example above.

Come on, guys, it's so easy! :o

OKAY, I'M SORRY. I just thought that it looked weird when it had a space between, because if you took away the parenthesis then there would still be a space between the last word of the sentence and the period. BUT I'M SORRY, MY ENGLISH TEACHERS DON'T TEACH ME (insert stuff here).

But hey, I like how I learn more about the English language here than in school.

I'm a pedant myself, and this topic is a little much.
