As some of you may know, I spent the last two-and-a-half weeks in Japan. I had a blast, and I took a ton of pictures. I thought it would be nice to share a few of my pictures with GT, so here they are! The pictures were taken at a variety of locations, although most of these are from Sado Island, which is located just off the western coast of the Japanese mainland. Enjoy! If you have questions about the locations/subjects of any particular pictures, feel free to ask.

Now that I think about it, I'm not sure. I think it's used for several different sports. That picture was taken at an elementary school. We went to two elementary schools that day in the same school district. I know that at the first school, they had a soccer field. I think there are definitely lines for soccer on the field pictured here, but I don't know what the rest are.
An interesting side-note on sports, at the university we were based at, there was an American football club. The first day I was there, I looked out a window of the music building and saw a team practicing football down on the fields. I watched for a few seconds, then thought to myself, "wait...that doesn't belong here!"

Yes, it is a very good movie indeed, even if it has Tom Cruise.

Yep. You can find rice paddies literally everywhere you look. In large expanses of flat land in rural areas, they will spread out as far as the eye can see. Even riding the train into Tokyo or driving up the sides of mountains you can find the occasional paddy crammed into an unused patch of land. It's really quite amazing.
