Eh, I don't know. The book does have more content that's really good, but I think that the movie did a solid job. I think it's one of the best books to movies out there.theultimat wrote:Jurassic Park - Michael Crichton.

It's also probably the best Crichton adaptation to exist. I once saw an autographed copy selling for like $75, but had no money on me at the time (it was like just a few weeks after he died).Moving_Target wrote:Eh, I don't know. I just finished Kidnapped by Robert Louis Stevenson and I am currently reading Ben Hur by Lew Wallace. Hooray for reading lists!

The Myth series, by R.A., if you couldn't tell. Really funny books, although there are a few crass parts in them.

Re: What are you Reading right now?
We're just starting to read All Quiet on the Western Front by Erich Maria Remarque in my lit class. If none of you have read it, the book deals with the time line of WWI and its from the German point of view. Since most of you know I'm an American so reading a book from the Western Front is very different from what I've read of the Eastern Front. I'm actually quite excited about reading it cuz in our class so far this semester our teacher has only let us read plays and this is gonna be our first real novel and plus I've always been a fan modern warfare.

It was nearly 100 years ago. That's not modern.Nova Hawk wrote:We're just starting to read All Quiet on the Western Front by Erich Maria Remarque in my lit class. I think that book was so successful because every vet could connect to and relate to the book in some way.

Sons of Fortune by Jeffrey Archer
Probably one of my favorite books of all time. Great story.
Plus, I'm about to start reading The Odyssey in English.

Re: What are you Reading right now?
Are you referring to term "epic" by which we use now or an epic as in a long narrative poem retelling the events of a historical hero?Grev wrote:I love the epic-ness of it.Nova Hawk wrote:Dude, I feel for you... Well IMO, I never liked it because I didn't like all those ancient Greek mythology stuff but that's just me.kinetosimpetus wrote:Why not both?

How can you not like it? There were so many awesome moments Odysseus had. I have to say, it's one of the few classics that I actually like.Nova Hawk wrote:Dude, I feel for you... I never liked the Odyssey.Fluffy_the_ic wrote:Plus, I'm about to start reading The Odyssey in English.
And due to school, I have to read Huckleberry Finn. For me, it's not bad, but I wouldn't call it a good read either, IMHO. Just read up to Chapter 7. He speaks like a Southerner so much that I can't tell what's going on some of the time.
