Wow, I just watched the episode and never expected the action to be like that! I know they have mod and stuff, but how'd they do that? That was epic!!

Actually, they have never modded their Xboxes when filming. All of the things that aren't normally there (the Pelican, the Church/Tex graves) were added using various digital editing programs. Previous oddities, such as the Meta holding his arms out to look at the screen, were exploits of certain bugs, the holding out arms position is obtained by combining lowering weapons and two SMGs.Nova Hawk wrote:Wow, I just watched the episode and never expected the action to be like that! Last night was work done by a new employee who they recently hired to do CGI Animations. He does them well.

No they don't, actually. Everything they do is done in a non-modded Halo 3. Everything they do that seems modded is done on their Macs in iMovie or whatever.Nova Hawk wrote:I know they have mod and stuff...
EDIT: Ah, ninja'd.

I'm a bit pissed off about the evil Washington, but I suppose they know what they're doing.

Why are you "pissed"? It's not called "evil", it's called "changed character". In all fairness; it's up to you to decide whether or not you like a plot twist, but why pissed?Grev wrote:I'm a bit pissed off about the evil Washington, but I suppose they know what they're doing.

Since when has the Internet had quips about exaggeration? Also, people like things at different levels. For example, you might not mind if, say, somebody got disqualified from the olympics, while someone from that country would be. In all fairness, it's not up to you to decide someone reaction.mswf wrote:Why are you "pissed"? It's not called "evil", it's called "changed character". I was kinda as well. I know alot of people didn't like it, but I really liked the sub plot Washington brought to the series, with his whole background with Project Freelancer. Felt like it added more depth to the story.

Resurrecting rather than starting a new topic due to it being the same season....
The most recent episode was flat-out awesome. I'm really glad they hired a guy who does his own animation (in 3DSMax). Makes the series more dynamic.

Agreed, at first I thought "What the..? This isn't machinima anymore!" But I got over it. It really does look great now.

Re: Red Vs Blue Season 8 (April 1st)
I kinds still feel that way. I still enjoy the series, but it's lik they've moved from a setup where less action as force by the engine results in a comedic focus, to a setup where they are moving into a cheap thrills action setup, where comedy is cheaply forces into the action. The sequence in the last episode where:Fluffy_the_ic wrote:Agreed, at first I thought "What the..? This isn't machinima anymore!" But I got over it. It really does look great now.

Re: Red Vs Blue Season 8 (April 1st)
Any melee-based fight scene done in Halo 3 would have been horrid, as we've seen in other machinimas that have tried it. Rooster Teeth realize that, so I assume they figure that if it's gonna be melee, it's gotta be done right.Grev wrote:I feel as though some animation is great, but they're laying it on a bit too heavily, and sacrificing engine induced possibilities.

I too feel a bit like they're doing it too much. But I also know the places where they've done it so far no less than required it to convey the effect. And they have done a superb job with it so far, so as long as they don't really screw it up somewhere then I'm fine.

Re: Red Vs Blue Season 8 (April 1st)
This episode was sooo good. Like almost matches Ep39.
I'm liking the animated parts. They're really well done. It is weird seeing it at times and some stuff they could have kept ingame but o well. Rooster Teeth wants to do more than what Halo engine can do.

Re: Red Vs Blue Season 8 (April 1st)
I agree, the game isn't completely suited for what they're doing. I just thought a brutal 7ish minute foggy scene couldve instead been a 3/4 minute foggy scene that then led into, for example, a chase scene, where instead relying on animation, they couldve used any number of ideas to convey the feeling of dread, etc., leading into a more suited segue into the final foreshadowed confrontation.Teancum wrote:Any melee-based fight scene done in Halo 3 would have been horrid, as we've seen in other machinimas that have tried it.
