Remaining Bugfixes

In this topic I'll post all the bugfixes as I do them. It'll be a reminder to me and some kind of progress report for anyone following the project.

Note: Some bugs are going to be ignored. The way the sides in the pack have been set up mean that they're sometimes not conducive to HUD icon fixes. As a result, some HUD icons will not work, while others have been fixed. There's also a sound error on some maps where the CIS and REP commands ("follow me," etc.) are mixed up. There's no obvious solution to this, and unless it's a major problem for anyone, I plan on ignoring it. Believe me when I say that any bugs I'm ignoring I haven't taken lightly - I've put hours into fixing them, but sometimes things are just too convoluted with a project that's been built by multiple different people over a couple of years. My goal here is to release a close-to-perfect product as I can within an allowable timeframe - I'm still shooting for September.

Right now, I'm working straight off of AQT's buglist, with a plan to doublecheck what everyone else has posted later on. "FIXED" indicates that a bug's been fixed and confirmed fixed by me, "CHECK" indicates that a bug's been fixed, but I haven't checked it, "IGNORE" indicates a bug that is unfixable (problem with the original game, error not worth the effort to fix), and "ZERTED" indicates a problem in the 1.3 patch that Zerted will fix. The bugs that I'm saving for later have no indication by them.

Alderaan:
* Missing load screen.
FIXED* Bossk uses the concussion rifle like a pistol.
FIXED* Bossk has a floating concussion rifle next to him in game.
FIXED* Force Bubble HUD icon is floating.
FIXED* Playing as Grand Admiral Thrawn, when you switch the primary weapon the game freezes.
FIXED* Playing as Lando Calrissian, when you switch the primary weapon the game freezes.
FIXED* Lando Calrissian's Pistol HUD icon is floating.
* Playing as the Han Solo, you can’t switch back from fusion cutter to blaster pistol.
FIXED* GCW Conquest and 1-Flag CTF: The Imperial Commando’s DC-17m Blaster Rifle is missing sound.
ZERTED* Hero Assault (Assault): Load Screen calls it Space Assault.
IGNORE* CW Conquest/1-Flag CTF: Clone Troopers use Battle Droids’ voices to give/take orders.
IGNORE* GCW Conquest/1-Flag CTF: Empire uses Alliance's voice to take orders.
* GCW Conquest/Classic Conquest: Rebel Combat Speeder missing sounds. (Weapon sounds)
NOTABUG* The Republic Commando's (Boss, Scorch, Sev, Fixer, and Caboose) DC-17m Anti-Armor fires a thermal detonator.
IGNORE* The DC-17m ICWS (including the Sniper Attachment) are missing HUD icons. The Imperial Commando's DC-17m Blaster Rifle also.
FIXED* The Empire's Recon Unit is missing the HUD icon for Stealth.
FIXED* The Republic Commando's DC-15s Side Arm is missing the HUD icon.
CHECK* When firing the DC-17m Anti-Armor in First Person, the game crashes to the desktop.
FIXED* CW and GCW Classic Conquest: Heroes can use vehicles.
NOTABUG* CW Classic Conquest crashes to the desktop after loading.
FIXED* Droideka unit class is missing.
FIXED* The Pilot class should be after the the Sniper class not before (spawn screen).
FIXED* GCW Classic Conquest: Rebel Soldier unit class is missing.
FIXED* Rebel Marksman/AT-ST Pilot uses the SWBFII model instead of the SWBFI model.
FIXED* Dark Trooper loses health when falling from high places.

Why is it that CW Classic Conquest CTDing is not considered a bug? :?

Some of the Conversion Pack maps randomly and inexplicably crash (seemingly) without provocation. It isn't something that happens all the time or even most of the time. It seems to be a random error with some of the new maps that happens only every once in a while. Every time I've played through that particular mode, I've never gotten a crash, but I recognize that this strange bug can happen because I've gotten a CTD on other maps before, only to reload the same map and have it work fine from there on out.

It's technically not "not a bug," but it's one that's going to have to be dealt with, because there's no apparent solution.

No. After this release you'll never need a Phoenix patch again.

@ Mav -- try breaking up all the different lua reqs in mission.req to sections of no more than 20 at a time.

It's done; but what is that actually supposed to do? I don't see any precedent (of course, as it was never required in the stock game) or any sort of documentation/indication that this is necessary.

IGNORE* The TIE Phantom breaks up like the TIE Fighter.
IGNORE* The TIE Advanced breaks up like the TIE Bomber.
* Anti-Aircraft turrets are missing sound.
* GCW all modes excluding Classic Conquest: All vehicles are missing sound.
* CW: Most vehicles are missing sound.
FIXED* GCW Conquest/1-Flag CTF/XL: The Imperial Commando’s DC-17m Blaster Rifle is missing sound.
IGNORE* Classic Conquest: CP’s have the symbol of the uncapturable CP rather than the faction that controls it.
IGNORE* All faction's orbital strike droids are missing the HUD icon for their Oribital Strike attack.
FIXED* REP and CIS orbital strike droids are missing blaster sound and blaster bolt textures.
IGNORE* GCW XL: The Imperial Pilot and Rebel Pilot are not listed on the spawn screen.
FIXED* CW Classic Conquest Crashes to the desktop after loading.
* Classic Conquest: Cloud Cars are missing weaponry sounds.
FIXED* XL: CP's are capturable.
FIXED* CW XL: At the start of the game, the REP's CP's will always transition to neutral CP's and then to CIS control. The neutral CP also transitions to CIS control.
FIXED* CW XL: At the start of the game, the IMP's CP's will always transition to neutral CP's and then to ALL control. The neutral CP also transitions to ALL control.

Concord Dawn:
FIXED* GCW Uber: The reinforcement counts are too high (1200).
NOFIX* GCW Hero Assault: CP number 2 is floating in mid-air.
FIXED* Aurra Sing's lightsaber is localized as Obi-Wan's lightsaber.
* TIE Fighter/X-Wing/Rebel Combat Speeder/Rebel Hovernaut are all missing sound (Classinc Conquest also).
IGNORE* The music stops playing after a little while when you are in the TIE Fighter/X-Wing.
CHECK* Sometimes when playing as infantry, the music doesn't play at all.
* GCW Conquest/Uber: The option to play, as the Hero for IMP and ALL doesn’t appear at all.
FIXED* The Rebel Hovernaut is missing HUD icons for: Postion 1, Blaster Cannon and Missile Launcher, Position 2 and 3, Blaster Cannon, and Position 4, Missile Launcher.
FIXED* The Rebel Combat Speeder is missing HUD icons for: Position 1, Blaster Cannon and Missile Launcher,and Position, 2 Laser Cannon.
NOTABUG* GCW Hero Assault: Shaak Ti only does the first swing of her combo.

That's about a third of the non-sound bugfixes (although some of the sounds are taken care of too). Those first few maps were a real drag (I spend probably about 5 hours on one finicky little bug), but it should just get easier from here on out.

will this be a full release, or do we have to install it above 1.9

there are some maps in 1.9 that were cut in the later phoenix versions but are still present in the addon folder

I can obliviously only speak for myself, but I really think many would want this fixed - it really seems "unfinished" to have a battledroid give clone trooper commands, and vice versa.

Other than that, great job on everything, and good luck on the remaining bugs.

I would tend to agree, but like I said, there's no real solution. Unless someone wants to tell me how to fix it there's not much I can do.

It might be easier to fix if this were a project I'd started myself, but since this is a culmanation of a bunch of other people's work spread over a long period of time, lots of things just tend to get lost in the ether.

@ Mav -- If I remember right there's a variable for vehicles that makes it so they can't capture CPs. Originally I had that for the Classic Conquest heroes, but when I rebuilt the side I must've forgot it.

It's not just for vehicles (CapturePosts = boolean), it's for all controllables. I shouldn't have put that up there as "IGNORE," it should be "FIXED."

It seems like only the 501st legion and the Phase I troopers (both with the 3 additional units loaded) are having the voice mix-up problem. I have no idea with the Alliance and Empire.

on mos eisley hero assault, it crashes, and gives the FATAL message, saying it cant locate the mos eisley hero assault level.
why does that happen? is there a way of fixing it?

Yeah, this mod will top all other BF2 mods. :thumbs: I can sense the final release is near.
