Underachieving PC [solved?]

Well, I'm back again. I downloaded a couple PC security programs from the clean up your PC threads, and for a bit they worked. Now, out of the blue, my PC and become slower than it was ever been before. Here are my specs:

358 gigs of free space (Average (according to Reimage) is 80)
487 gig hard drive (Average: 250)
My CPU runs at 2.39GHz.
My Hard Drive speed is 85 megabytes per second.
CPU temp is 140 degrees. (I don't know how Reimage came up with that. I believe it might be making that number up)

It didn't detect any malware, although, I do have many stability issues.

As of right now, the only process I am running is Google Chrome and task manager.

I have run scans using free version of Advanced System Care 5. It has picked up on errors of all sorts, except Malware, and fixed them with no problem. I ran a scan before posting this on which it picked up nothing. All programs run slowly, except the internet. (Flash and the like run slowly, and connection speed isn't an issue. I can open up new tabs without any lag, but Hulu needs a lot of time to buffer.)

I've tried Microsoft Security Essentials, but it froze and stopped displaying stuff, but I could still switch to different options, such as settings. I left it be for about an hour running a "quick" scan and turned up nothing.

In short, please help me. If you need any data, let me know please.

As for your processor's temperature, 140 degrees sounds about right, if it's in Fahrenheit.

140 degrees Fahrenheit. Can't believe how hot it'd be Celsius. I'll post screenies ASAP.

Alright, with a quad-core processor and four gigabytes of RAM, there's almost no way this is a hardware issue.

When is the last time you have defragmented your hard drive? Also, what do you use to do it? I am going to guess the standard default one that comes with Windows. If this is the case, download and install Auslogics Disk Defrag, and have it "Defrag & Optimize".

I've defragged multiple times using the Advanced System Care 5. I'll defrag using what you suggested.

EDIT: I defragmented this week, but it might be the program I use.

EDIT2: To give a better idea of how severe the issue is, many computer programs crash. SWBFII won't start, (but RC and KOTOR do) and sometimes even windows explorer crashes.

I have no fragmented files. I didn't even run the defragmenter. It scanned for files, and none showed up red, they were all green or blue. I'm running the system boost thing now. I'll tell you the results later.

Oh.

Apparently I have 1,310 fragmented files. Great. Weird though, I defragmented recently.

I also inadvertantly downloaded the Auslogics boost speed thing, thinking that was the optimization you were talking about. Never mind, defragging now.

I defragged. It fixed 1,230 files and preformed numerous operations. No change in performance. Help?

Never mind, I just ran chkdsk/f a couple times, and things are starting to pick up. I'll post again if the problem persists.
