New Monitor Resolution Problems [SOLVED]

Ok, I make it short this time:

I gotz a new monitor for 1920x1080, plugged it in, set my PC to 1920x1080 and bam, screen looks perfect except the fact that it cuts away neraly half of it.

On the left side is a black stripe where the mouse can't interact, so the edge of the Desktop, and it seems like it is as much over here as it is not on the right side.

I tried to set the new TV/Monitor, but even manual positioning didn't help too much.

That may sound n00bish, but is there anything else I can do?
My dad says an HDMI-cable might solve it, but I can't plug one into my PC.

Need specs?

Are you using a digital cable or analog? Also, have you tried pressing menu (the button out side usually on the bottom right of the monitor). Then go to screen, and there is a button called auto, if you press that it resets screen positioning. : ) (I have an old monitor so the buttons might be called differently).

Maybe you got a defective monitor? Try calling the company customer support.

Okay guys, thanks for trying to help, but it seems 1920x1080 isn't working, so I tried 1920x1200 and it works fine now. :P
