For a while i been wanting to get one of the Intel core i's prosessors for my computer, but the only thing that held me back was my motherboard dident have the right socket type. I went to Newegg the other day to find a motherboard, just for fun, that i can afford. I came across
this one. Then i found
this prosessor.
My question is, would that be a good buy? Or is there another, better deal out there i cant find?
(i wont tuch AMD, so dont bother)
I currently have a Pentium 4 HT 3.5Gz prosessor, which works, but using Visual Studio, and some games i play, it doesn't seem to have the power i want.

Be ready to add another 100$-150$ to that. The P55 and H55 LGA1156 boards use the DDR3 memory standard so you will need new memory.
For the motherboard go with this.

Virtually identical to the Intel branded one, except it allows for easier overclocking since ASUS is less restrictive than Intel boards in that regard. You can take DDR3 memory up to 2133MHz bus speeds with a good OC.
Also has one legacy PATA drive connector, and 6port audio on the rear panel, and headers for 3 more USB connections aside from its built in 6.
All in all, for 5$ more it's a far better deal than the Intel made board, and ASUS provides rock solid motherboards.

I did find memory at crucial for $40 (2bg) but that may not be the best memory they have..
Im not too sure if i want to get it all right now, because of all the shipping hassles at this time
