BF1942 Win7 Crash [Solved]

Okay, I've looked this up online, but can't seem to find a solution to it (although it was a huge problem). Does anyone know what the solution is? When the map finishes loading, it crashes to the desktop. My specs are:
- Windows 7 64-bit
- 6 gb RAM
- Pentium dual-core processor (2.6 ghz)
- intel g45/g43 express chipset (even though it's a motherboard I think, it's legit - it runs LOTR conquest, which has ridiculously high requirements compared to Battlefield 1942).
Can someone please help?
I solved this problem by using XP service pack 3 compatibility mode and running as admin.

Here are some suggestions from Intel.
Here are some suggestions from a different forum.
Here is a link to microsoft's info about the BF1942 collection.

Looked through all of those links, nothing helped. I just updated the driver on my gfx card, that didn't help either. Btw, this is part of the WWII Anthology (which windows says is compatible with win7).

Erm, how do I discover if it is or not?
Btw, I've tried running the game in XP mode, and that doesn't work (given virtual pc's don't have graphics cards *facepalm*). I've contacted EA, and they claim that I don't meet the requirements (which is bogus - I've played all the demos fine, and much more demanding games too).

Go to the Control Panel, click on hardware and sound.
Scroll down to "Sound" and click manage audio devices, click on Recording up at the top.
Right click and click show disabled devices. I think something called "Stereo Mix" should come up.
Make it the default and turn mixer configs back on.

Okay, the Stero Mix thing is one and is the default (it already was). What else could be the problem?

The game requirements are:
- Windows® XP, Windows Me, Windows 2000, Windows 98, (Windows NT and 95 are not supported)
I have Windows 7
- 500 MHz Intel® Pentium® or AMD Athlon™ processor
I have a Pentium Dual Core Processor with 2.60 GHZ
- 128 MB RAM
I have 6 gigs of RAM
- 4x CD-ROM/DVD-ROM drive
Not sure exactly what I have, but I pass this requirements
- 1.2 GB free hard disk space plus space for saved games (additional space required for Windows swap-file and DirectX™ 8.1 installation)
Plenty space on my hard drive
- 32 MB video card which supports Transform & Lighting and with DirectX 8.1 compatible driver
I have an Intel G45/G43 Express Chipset, which should be good enough - it can run LOTR conquest fine, which has ridiculously high requirements compared to this game
- DirectX 8.1 compatible sound card
I'm good here
- Keyboard, Mouse
........ how else would I type this?
Also, the game doesn't always crash - it only crashes 50% of the time, after loading the map. The other half of the time, it runs fine - this leads me to believe that the issue isn't with the system requirements..... any suggestions?
