Windows Media Player lost playlists

Post by Fiodis »

Lately when I've booted up my computer I've had an odd issue where it shows the stock Win7 desktop instead of my own, and only about half of my icons. Restarting usually fixes this, so I wasn't worried. After the most recent instance of this, however, I opened up Windows Media Player and when I clicked to see my playlists, I saw that there were two copies of everything there. So I deleted the second versions from the player list, but chose the option to keep them on my computer. Media Player got rid of the extra ones, but then I wasn't able to open many of the remaining ones. I closed and reopened Media Player, and to my shock there were only five playlists left. I browsed to C:\Users\Username\Music\Playlists and there I saw all my old playlists preserved as they had been - if I doubleclicked them Media Player would play them without any fuss - but try as I can I cannot get them to reappear in the actual Playlist list. How can I fix this strange problem?

Um....Win 7? The most recent one, I think, whatever number that is.
