Quick Dual Boot Questions

After a successful dual boot with Windows XP over 7, can I just get rid of Windows 7, or would it be easier to completely wipe the hard-drive and just install Windows XP onto it then?
I really don't understand dual booting very well, or the idea of getting a new OS on a hard drive, so this is a bit beyond me (but hey what better way to learn than by doing it...).

I think its probably best to get rid of them both and then reinstall xp. You can get rid of just 7, but the XP drive will only use up however much disk space you assigned it, basically wasting half of your hard drive...

I can't speak for Silva, but for me it's because it's not an utter resource hog.

then get win7 Ultimate and install the Windows xp Mode. Its not a resource hog if you have a newer computer. They can support vista and 7. Ones preshipped with xp cant hold it.

It's cheaper for me to just install XP since I already have it, and software just runs 1000x better on XP.

I'd still stick with XP unless there's a need to go with Windows 7 (like a driver that's only Vista+, or a quad core machine). 7 is pretty and nice, but if you don't need the bells and whistles going with something that's less resource intensive helps a lot. I can play about 1/2 of the newest games on my XP machine, and I'm still running a single core system.
But to answer the question, you need to edit boot.ini and remove the line that references Win7. See the link below.
