About 2 weeks ago I downloaded a virus and I couldn't get rid of it so I used System Restore, after I chose my restore point and it restarted and and then a window came up with saying ' Your system needs to be registered, press yes to activate, or no to stay unregistered. I press yes, then the computer loads correctly and the activation window comes up, but its just white, nothing on it, so I can't activate Windows!!!!! I restarted 10 times, I pressed no and it still mucked up. The mouse doesn't even move!!!!!!! I need help so badly, I waited 2 years with this computer and bought a gfx card and now its effed! Right now I'm using my useless laptop : (

Depending on the machine, sometimes you can find the key somewhere on the CPU case itself. Lots of Dells have the key on the bottom or the back. If it's not there then there should be some manuals that the computer came with, and it's often there. Either way it's on a sticker.

That sticker looks like one of these: "Product Key" is the Windows serial. Don't bother trying to find a Windows serial on the net though. Unless you know what batch your restore disc was printed with (1 in a million chance) you'll spend days trying every serial on a bunch of shady sites, and even then Windows won't pass the Windows Genuine Advantage checks.

its asks for it. yes, interent is needed.

But when I click connections it says cannot configure? ommfg

make sure you have it set up and a internet cable connected

Short and Easy-

1. Turn on computer
2. Everything runs fine
3. After log on a square at the bottom says xp is registered
4. Can't log in until registered.
5. Don't have internet.
6. Mouse doesn't work.
7. Went into CMOS and turned on all usb cables.
8. Still didnt work.
9. When I press register a blank window comes up with nothing on it.

even if you would wie the HD and reinstall windows, you still need internet.

But if you recently bought windows boot disk, u wont need internet???

It register Windows, you need interent. No matter what you do.

clean it. Take the ball out, and clean the wheels.

Assuming you do have a ball mouse, get a laser one! Its virtually impossible to have a good gaming experience with a ball point mouse, at least in my experience.

lol, if course i have a lazer mouse, I bought all the 'new' components. And the red light is under the mouse but its frozen.

I went into CMOS ~ Bios and the mouse USB was turned off, i turned it on, but it still didnt move ?

make sure its on a textured surface. Not a solid color.

I think he means don't try to use your mouse on a piece of plain white paper, or a surface which is one solid colour
