I recently tried to run XSI Modtool 6 through 3d Analyze. Previously it just got up to the image that appears on your desktop, then froze there, but now I got it almost up to the point of a blank scene before it crashed with a message that I don't have the necessary version of DirectX, and that I should get DirectX 9.0b or higher. Here's the thing: I've already downloaded DirectX 9.0c. When I try to download any other ones, the installer says that it has detected a newer version installed and that there's no need to install the old one. I suspect a similar problem is behind my SWBF2-running issues. That, too, says that I must install DirectX off the install disc before I can proceed. I run the installer off the disc, but it jumps straight from "Start" to "Finished, click to exit".
So, it seems that I have DirectX 9.0c (which I think is the latest version) installed, but for whatever reason all the applications that need it (BF2, XSI) act as though it's not there. What could be the issue? Are there any settings in 3D Analyze I have to select for this to work? Can 3D Analyze emulate DirectX?
I'm running Windows 7 64-bit.

Re: DirectX 9.0c not being recognized?
win7 has DirectX 10 (read from Microsoft). Im not sure if you can install DX9 without it still reading DX10 installed.

Well, if I have DirectX 10, what's the problem that stops it being used by BF2 and XSI?

Wait. 7 comes with DirectX 11. I can believe i got it wrong
anyway, I'm not sure why its not working. Check the Microsoft DX page here: http://www.microsoft.com/games/en-US/ab ... rectx.aspx
you might find something about it somewhere in there.

That didn't help much, unfortunately. With all of DirectX 11's new features, did they remove the older ones that BF2 and XSI Modtool 6 utilize?

they may have. It also depends if your graphics card is compatible with 11.
