Computer Processors and PC Games [Solved]
I am looking at computers to buy - what fun.
I have a game I want to play that requires a duo core processor with 2.4ghz. My question is this: How important is the processor in the requirements of a game? Can I play a game that requires 2.4ghz with a processor that has 2.1ghz? Will the missing 0.3ghz stop me playing the game, or just slow it down?
Thanks for any help.

Re: Computer Processors and PC Games
If it says a 2.4GHz dual core (that seems to be what all the new hip games ask for lately) is recommended, then you should have one.
In that case, look at the minimum requirements and see if you can run it there.
If it's the minimum requirements you're looking at, then yes, you need that processor. Anything under it will usually not be able to run the game properly.
The processor is very important when it comes to gaming, because, after all, that's what processes the data.
But I suppose if you really want to test that theory and buy a $60 game, then go ahead.

Re: Computer Processors and PC Games
The requirements for the game don't say if they are minimum or recommended..... but multiple people have said they are the recommended.
I think I'll get the game.
Thanks Dohnutt.

Mm, wait, I still wouldn't be so sure.
What game is it? Try googling the minimum requirements - or you could use http://cyri.systemrequirementslab.com/srtest/ to test your system to see if you could run it. But, obviously, you have to do it on the system you're going to buy this game for.

The game is Lord of the Rings conquest.
And technically, I don't have the computer yet - I'm just getting it tomorrow.

Re: Computer Processors and PC Games
You might be able to play it, because I can run CoD4 on my computer though it's minimum is: 2.4 GHz and I have 2.2 GHz.
Same with Empire total war which requires 2.4 GHz and I have 2.2 GHz. So I say that you mabey can run it.

Do you have a dual core or quad core processor?Yodakid wrote:You might be able to play it, because I can run CoD4 on my computer though it's minimum is: 2.4 GHz and I have 2.2 GHz.

I'm guessing dual core?

Re: Computer Processors and PC Games
No, Only single core.
But btw, it might be bigger difference between single and dual.
Because if he has a dual, and each core is 2.1 GHz, it's a total of 4.2 GHz. And if the game's minumum is 2.4 GHz dual, then it's a total of 4.8 GHz. Then the difference is 0,6 GHz, right?

Re: Computer Processors and PC Games
Uh, don't worry, I figured this out. Bought a computer with 2.6GHz instead of the other one I was looking at.
Thanks guys!
