Call of Duty: World at War - Weird error [Solved]

Post by theultimat »

Well, hello GT. I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this, but seeing as it is a problem, I thought I would post it here.
When I started the campaign, it all played through fine for the fist two missions, and then when I got to the third something wierd happened. It's hard to descibe, so take a look at the picture below:
Hidden/Spoiler:

Due to this, I restarted the game, and when I loaded the level it was fine. That is, it was until I got to about half way through the mission (the part with the flamethrower). I saw the flamethrower guy with the flamethrower, but it was just plain yellow, with no texture at all. Then, after this and when I got to the part when you need to go inside, all of my team mates, and myself went the same yellow as the flamethrower had gone. When I came out of the building I was fine again. Then it started going back to how it was in the screenshot, and this was just too much, so I exited.
Right now I'm downloading patches for it in the hope that this will fix it. Can you guys and gals here think of any reasons for why it would do this? It never did on the first time I installed the game, so I'm a bit confused.
Thanks. :)

Probably a graphics issue, what card are you using and have you updated your drivers?

My card is an Nvidia GeForce 8600, and all the drivers are up to date.

Has the game/this level worked properly any time before this?

And just checking, you do have the drive updates that came out 4 days ago, correct?

Yeah, the game has worked perfectly on this level before. And I believe I do have that update, yes. I'll check and report back tomorrow for you. :)

Hm, it did this with another game for me before. It would do this with the DirectX 10 version of the game, but not the DirectX 9 version.
Anyways, I don't think World at War has separate versions for DX, so I'm not really sure.
But I guess it could always help to reinstall DirectX 9?

Thanks for all the help DRK and Dohnutt, but patching the game seems to have solved the problem. This can be locked now. Thanks :)
