XSI 4.2 throws error when launching
I have tried to open XSI 4.2 2 different ways and both of them failed. The first time, I get a vague error message and it closes. The second time, I opened from the start menu and and it said: Cannot load the specific dictionary. Anyone know what this means?
I know what you guys are going to say:
Why don't you search the forums before asking stupid questions? (then the thread is locked before anyone can give me any remotely useful hints)
I did search, and the links to helpful sites are either broken or lead me nowhere.

Forgive me for my mistrust of admins ,moderators, and senior members.
I use windows XP, and the error message didn't contain any details, it was just the typical "___ has encountered a problem and needs to close" I tried reading what it contains, but error reports are written in a language other than english.

Re: XSI problem
Problem solved, I deleted everything and downloaded a newer version, and it works great;
except msh files aren't visible.

Mesh files are never visible in XSI.

Re: XSI problem
Thats odd, considering you can't load .msh files without converting them to .obj, try RepSharpShooters meshtool for that.Darth_Squoobus wrote:That's just it, I load them and all I see is space.

Funny, I downloaded it before you suggested it. It got an error report in the middle of converting.DarthRogueKnight wrote:Thats odd, considering you can't load .msh files without converting them to .obj, try RepSharpShooters meshtool for that.

You downloaded the wrong tool, you need MeshTool, not MeshEx.Darth_Squoobus wrote:Right here:

I got meshtool, the import worked, but the .obj still isn't visible in XSI.DarthRogueKnight wrote:You downloaded the wrong tool, you need MeshTool, not MeshEx.

Re: XSI problem
Any errors with the import? Can you show me a screen of what comes up right after you import the model?Darth_Squoobus wrote:I got meshtool, the import worked, but the .obj still isn't visible in XSI.

Re: XSI problem
No errors, perhaps it's just something with the particular model. I keep trying to load sqeddie's dam but it isn't showing up. I'm going to try the same thing with Caleb's hammerhead.DarthRogueKnight wrote:Any errors with the import? Can you show me a screen of what comes up right after you import the model?

Re: XSI problem
On a side note, you shouldn't be importing and editing people's models without asking their permission first.Darth_Squoobus wrote:No errors, perhaps it's just something with the particular model. Don't worry, I'll get rid of them, I'm just trying to see if it works.DarthRogueKnight wrote:On a side note, you shouldn't be importing and editing people's models without asking their permission first.

Re: XSI problem
It's not an issue with squipple or eddie's stuff, but Caleb might have used MshEx to export his stuff. I'm not sure if mshtool's import will work on MshEx exported stuff.
