Im about to dump my computer and start everything over on it because its running so badly and having a lot of errors, and I'm wanting to know if I can save my saved game on my The Sims: Complete Collection from the dump by backing up the games Maxis folder on a disk. That will work, right? Because I dont want to lose everything I've done with Michael Bachelor.

A lot of games will have a save file that is easily located. For example, BF2's is in Star Wars Battlefront II\GameData\SaveGames. Notice that this is in an obvious place. Just look around for it, and, once you find it, save it on an external source.

I've already looked around the Maxis folder, there isn't any specific folder holding a saved game I don't think...So it's probably best to just copy the whole folder.

Also check My Documents, Documents and Settings, or any other folder that sits on the C root partition of your OS install. Alot of games are coded to save profiles, Save files and configs to the root partition in the OS, even if you install the game on a different partition.

A quick internet search seems to indicate that saved games are probably stored in your "My Documents" folder, e.g. "My Documents/EA Games/The Sims 2"
