Skype online check

I'm just sitting there, working in Blender, when the Skype bubble in the corner comes up with this
Hidden/Spoiler:
[4:17:23 PM] Online Check: WINDOWS REQUIRES IMMEDIATE ATTENTION
=============================

ATTENTION ! Security Center has detected
malware on your computer !

Affected Software:

Microsoft Windows Vista
Microsoft Windows XP
Microsoft Windows 2000
Microsoft Windows NT Server 4.0
Microsoft Windows Win98
Microsoft Windows Server 2003

Impact of Vulnerability: Remote Code Execution / Virus Infection /
Unexpected shutdowns

Recommendation: Users running vulnerable version should install a repair
utility immediately

Your system IS affected, download the patch from the address below !
Failure to do so may result in severe computer malfunction.

And then a link here
What does this mean? I did a really quick google search and I don't think Skype does this regularly. I did read the Terms of Service and Use, but I don't remember online checks. I'm running a scan now. Is this just someone with nothing to do messing with me?

[Edit] Ok, longer search says that this is just a user trying to get me to download nasty virus junk. I'm fairly certain that that is what this was. Still, has anyone else encountered this?

Never follow links given through online chat. Never ever ever. If your virus scan doesn't turn up anything (and this should be your first check) and you don't have any symptoms of a virus (popups, sketchy processes running, etc.), then you probably don't have a virus.

Trust reputable antivirus/antimalware. Never trust chat programs.

Haha, thanks Maveritchell! I thought so, but its always good to be reminded. No chat program was ever made to scan your computer.
