Halo 3 "unplayable disk" error

Hey, I just got a Xbox 360 today for which I have been waiting for so long and I mainly got it to play Halo 3. I got to play Halo 3 for a little bit tonight but then I got tired so I went and did some stuff, I returned later and I found a "unplayable disk error". I was like... "What?! I've waited weeks to play Halo 3 and now something like this happens." I've tried other DVDs and the bonus tennis game that came with the 360 and everything works fine, but not Halo 3. I tried searching on google for any answers but there really weren't any. Does anyone know how to fix this problem?
Please help me, your my only hope...

1: faulty disk
2: faulty drive
or 3: disk got scratched (happens often, 360 is almost *too* fast)

One thing you want to be sure of is to never bump the 360. Ever. It you do that when it's reading a disc it'll burn a ring into the disc. Take a look at the underside of the disc. If there's a very obvious ring on the inside you're out of luck. Otherwise clean the disc and try again. If there's no ring and the disc is clean try returning it and getting a new one.

There was a ring along the edge of the disk. I looked at other DVDs and they didn't have them.

Does it look like the pictures below? If so your game is toast.

Yes, yes it does. I guess this calls for another trip to target...

Off-topic: Lol, pun. But
Yeah, my friend told me this happened to him. He said that he got it for cheaper somewhere else, though I can't remember where. But all I can say is that you might not wanna buy it at gamestop. Too many used copies of 360 games, a lot of which prolly don't work.

Go to GameCrazy if you have one near you. They always treat customers well.

Is there any possible way to get that ring off?

Nope. It literally burned the media inside the disc, permanently corrupting it.

Yeah, from Teancum's pictures, that looks like physical damage to the disc. That cannot be fixed.
